Phins Fans Might Not Get Their Wish At #6

Chances are Phins fans might not get our dream pick

I absolutely love the lead-up to the NFL Draft because it offers pure hope for sports fans! Young college prospects get their shot at the big leagues… and a chance to help my beloved Miami Dolphins to get better. My dreams of future Phins Pro Bowlers and Hall of Famers getting drafted sure are sweet! However, the Phins have not been very good for the last two decades partly because of subpar drafting. Let’s be real, the last time we drafted a player who was elected to the Hall of Fame was Jason Taylor in 1997. Also, there aren’t a ton of players drafted that have been selected to the Pro Bowl, besides Xavien Howard.

Now, to be fair, in recent years Miami also drafted Laremy Tunsil and Minkah Fitzpatrick, who are Pro Bowlers. So, there is much more hope these days than in years past.

Grier has brought in plenty of quality talent so far

Year in and year out, Phins fans clamor for a specific prospect, and almost always they draft another position or another player. However, I will say that last year a good percentage of the fanbase hoped that Miami would select Tua. While I felt like picking Tua was a forgone conclusion, I was surprised that they drafted a player that was a popular fan choice.

So even though many of the pay per head bookie services are predicting that Miami will land either Chase, Pitts, Sewell, Smith, or Waddle… don’t bet the house on it. Contrary to the hope of Phins fans and the odds one of these players comes to us, don’t be surprised if it shakes out differently. Just hope that whatever happens Chris Grier nails this pick.

The Good Morning Football host, Peter Schrager, had Miami selecting OT Rashawn Slater from Northwestern at #6 in his latest mock draft. This whipped up a firestorm of responses from Dolphins fans that he’d never received before. The fact that he had Slater going to the Phins WITH Pitts, Sewell, Waddle, and Smith still available threw plenty of fuel on the fire. Benefits Of Using A Good Casino Software Company.

However, I hate to say it but I really wouldn’t be shocked now if the Dolphins selected Slater.  While I’d really rather them not draft Slater, time could prove it a good choice. Slater isn’t rated as high as Sewell, but Slater is a natural Right Tackle… and for a left-handed QB such as Tua, the right tackle protects his blindside.

Maybe the Phins place extra value on this?

This could ‘make some sense’ in terms of Miami picking Slater over Sewell… if Miami goes O-Line.

Pitts is still the hope, but…

There’s a good chance that the unicorn of Kyle Pitts could be gone by the time Miami is up. Touted as the best prospect in this draft from a matchup and athletic standpoint, this is a bit concerning for Phins fans.

So, the other thing that could sway the Phins selection to offensive linemen is with the addition of Fuller, and Hurns and Wilson both returning, the Phins have quite a few receivers. Also, this is a loaded receiver draft compared to offensive linemen. Miami may plan to use one of their later picks to draft a receiver if they pass on the top three.

While top-rated offensive lineman isn’t a sexy pick, they do tend to have a higher probability of NFL success compared to top-rated wide receivers. So, that’s good news. How To Use A Price Per Head Bookie To Make Sports Betting Smarter.

The Dolphins used free agency to add depth and grunt-type players, now they must add game-changers in the draft. Since the last draft was spent adding offensive and defensive linemen, I hoping this draft we add big-time playmakers! However, I won’t be shocked if Miami surprises us again with a player such as Slater at #6… so, don’t set your heart on anyone. In the end, the most important thing is whoever they draft with their top pick, that player needs to be a very good one in the NFL.

How do Phins News fans feel about the prospect of Miami selecting Slater?
