Down Tua the Phins MUST rise to the occasion
The Miami Dolphins are streaking in the wrong direction with four consecutive losses for a winless December! Luckily, the rest of the AFC has been beating up on each other, and Miami is still clinging to the last wild card spot. Amazingly, the Dolphins still control their own destiny, but the only way they can actually make the playoffs is by winning a football game. Going 0-2 in the last 2 games of the season will guarantee they miss the playoffs–again! And it might be one of the worst collapses in Dolphins history.
To make matters worse, Tua won’t likely see any time under center over these next two weeks. Utterly amazing how this franchise manages to get themselves into a mess!
Still, they aren’t there yet, and a Cinderella season is still a possibility.
Phins must rise to the occasion without Tua
The Dolphins were up by 10 points late in the second quarter on the Packers, however a later fumble allowed the Packers to pick up 3 points right before the half ended. Then Tua had a terrible 2nd half where he threw 3 interceptions. Turning the ball over 4 times in a game is rarely going to end in a victory. We later found out Tua was concussed, so his terrible play made sense post facto. Still, I think it would have been far better for him to have played poorly and get another head injury.
Now the Dolphins have to go up and play in very cold New England this upcoming Sunday. The Dolphins have recently played well against the Patriots, winning their last 4 games, and winning 5 out of the last 6 games. But, with both teams are still alive and fighting for a playoff spot and playing up in New England in January with Teddy Bridgewater leading the team, getting the ‘W’ for Miami will be tough.
For the Dolphins, they must get back to basics such as protecting the football, limiting penalties and not making mental mistakes. Miami has shown they have talent on both sides of the ball, but too often they get in their own way with numerous drive-killing penalties and turning the ball over during inopportune moments.
Two wins can turn it all around!!
Miami also needs to keep their foot on the pedal when they have the lead. They’ve squandered leads in the second half in their last two games because they can’t close out games. And, how about we run the football some more? McDaniel is a run coordinator, who seems allergic to running the football?!
The best football software has the Dolphins as a rare 3.5 favorite on the road in New England. The action is already coming in more on the Dolphins, which seems to always be a bad sign for Miami when the public bets on them. It was only recently that Miami was always an underdog in games, and the betting public always wagered on the opposing team. Now, when you start to show you can win football games, the odds are more in your favor and the public starts jumping on the bandwagon. The problem is this team is still very inconsistent has shown it doesn’t win games they should consistently.
Miami must end this losing streak Sunday!
The Phins can still make something of this season other than another letdown! This is a team that has the talent and skill level to compete with anyone in the league, but they have to be more than a collection of talent. While on paper the Dolphins should have beaten the Chargers and Packers, teams win games not paper matchups. Tua or not, Miami must beat the Pats.
The make-or-break game is likely the Jets next week, but at this point, we just need to win… NOW!
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans thoughts on the Dolphins chances to salvage this once promising season and get a much-needed victory?
