Phins Lose… But Giants Still Ahead on Draft Board!

Phins are in ‘no man’s land’ and even a win in their last two games won’t fix it

Since the preseason and even up until two weeks ago, I have wanted the Miami Dolphins to win every game they could… draft position be damned. But, given their current situation, I’ve changed my mind completely. Despite the Phins loss this week, they are still stuck in the ‘no man’s land’ on the draft board. Because of the strength of schedule difference, the Giants still hold the 2nd Overall pick, and the Redskins are a hair behind Miami with 4th Overall.

The incredible fractions of a decimal point in the strength of schedule that is keeping Miami in the 3rd spot boggles the mind!

Adam Beasley misspoke a bit but the SOS is so, so close

It feels like a screw job from the football gods that Miami loses to the Giants and still misses out on the coveted spot. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to play out this way. Miami has time to change their fate.

But they also might need the Redskins, who play the Giants this week, to lose.

You can bet with the best sportsbook software services that the best-case scenario for Miami now is to go 0-2 over these next two weeks. I despise to say it, but it’s the truth. If Miami loses these next two games, they could be in the position to draft Burrow or more likely Young. Either of those players would infinity outweigh a win this week or next.

Brian Flores has shown enough given he has had the B squad and now the C squad to work with. I’m not saying Flores should or will coach to lose… Rather we fans should hope the other teams win… especially the Giants. And if we do lose, pop a cork in reluctant celebration, then never ever feel good about a Dolphins loss again… ever!

Beating the Patriots in Foxborough won’t happen. But even one win would have Miami tumbling down the draft board and maybe out of the Top 5 because there are so many bad teams this year.

A Phins win against the Bengals would be game set and match for the Dolphins in the Chase Young Bowl.

The problem is losing to the Bengals won’t be easy and it will also depend on the Giants winning a game against either the Redskins or the Eagles. On a positive note, the Bengals aren’t worried about Miami catching them and overtaking pole position for the top pick in the draft… and Joe Burrow. Cincinnati won’t be in tank mode this week, so they’ll give Miami everything they have.

It disgusts me to say it, but let’s hope they (and the Giants) do!

#11 Isaiah Simmons (WOULD CLEARLY REPLACED M. FITZPATRICK) WITH HIM YOU COVER 3 POSITION OF DEFENSE.

Defender who transitioned from safety in 2017 to the starting nickel/sam linebacker position in 2018 and was eventually named the Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker in 2019 in only his second year at the position … enters 2019 bowl season credited with 239 tackles (26.5 for loss), 9.5 sacks, 19 pass breakups, three interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown), five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 1,683 career snaps over 42 games (27 starts) … selected as a Preseason All-American for 2019 by Phil Steele (first-team) and Athlon (second-team).

I think if Miami is forced to draft in the Top 5 he’d be my pick… I like him a lot. He fits this scheme perfectly. Per PFF, “Simmons is one part linebacker, one part safety, one part whatever you want him to be. He’s got a freaky build at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and freaky athleticism. He’s broken up 13 passes on 756 coverage snaps in his career and picked off two others.”

I have paid attention to his a slight bit. Miami needs a high-quality LB. Gonna’ watch a lot more tape on him.

    After Joe Burrow

Who’s the best fit for the Dolphin?

Hurts transferred to OU after three seasons at Alabama. He helped the Crimson Tide to a 41-3 record (26-2 mark as a starter in 2016 and 2017). A 2016 and 2017 Manning Award finalist, he played in six College Football Playoff games (four starts) and helped UA to the 2017 national title. He owns the Alabama quarterback career record with 23 rushing touchdowns and ranks second in school history among QBs with 1,976 career rushing yards and 71 touchdowns responsible for. He ranks third with 7,602 yards of total offense and 48 touchdown passes.

Following his first game as a Sooner, Hurts was named Big 12 Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week after compiling 508 yards in total offense and scoring six touchdowns. He also earned National Player of the Week honors from the Maxwell Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. His total broke Baker Mayfield’s record for yards in a debut by more than 100 yards. Hurts had 332 yards through the air (20-23) and three touchdowns. He ran 16 times for a career-high 176 yards and three more scores. Hurts became the first Sooner to throw for at least 300 yards and rush for at least 150 in a game, and is the only player in Big 12 history to throw for at least 300 and rush for at least 150 while completing at least 80 percent of his passes. Hurst come from behind and beaten numerous of team i.e Baylor 25 points deficit
The experts have thrown insults after insult at hurst. Only losing a few games out of closed to 50 games is worthy of 1st round. Hurst now with the Oklahoma Sooner will soon play against Joe Burrow’s LSU Bowl game.

The games and the rules are changing in the NFL:
Ryan Fitzpatrick has already introduce a characteristic the next QB must possess? Jalen Hurst has those Characteristic QB at Alabama passing Yards: 5626 and Rushing yards 1976 yards he switch teams Oklahoma one season Passing Yards: 3634 and Rushing Yards:1255
    a. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the leading rusher on the team at week 14th.
    b. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a leader on and off the field.
    c. Ryan Fitzpatrick performed well with a patched up/borrowed team.

Justin Herbert , Jake Bromm or not good fits for the Dolphins or Utah State
Jordan Love who has he beaten? teams like Stony Brook, Colorado State, Nevada, /Wyoming, Fresno State, Idaho State. Who beat him LSU 42-6, AIR FORCE 31-7, WISCONSIN 59-10 AND BOISE STATE 56-21 this is not the ticket.
Here’s the bottom line: We Dolphins Fans don’t care to watch a QB get murder on the field taking unnecessary hits. Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Dashuan Watson or not taking unnecessary hits like their predecessor in the past have taken i.e Micheal Vick, Cam Newton RG3 etc. Stephen Ross or Brian Flores needs to make the call for QB.

A lot of people like Hurts… need to watch him. Would you pick him over a wounded Tua?

      • Steve

        Admin!

Iua is a great player who has been plagued with injury. I’m not sure That Tua has played a complete season with Bama?

The question that Miami need to answer is! Can they protect Josh Rosen? A wounded Tua still gets around better than a healthy Rosen?

Admin and Finfans in the NFL they will possibly crippled this kid.

Miami has proven they cannot protect an injury prone Quarter Back.

Hurst has not missed any games to injury. There were some games I counted husrt out. He handles adversity better than any QB I’ve seen. Hurst does not choked on the big stage.

I would not draft Tua for the Dolphins.

        • admin

As I said to Hector above: “Tua is a great kid and prospect, but the injury history and the Phins luck makes for a bad brew… Of course, it could also end up like Brees did… so, I’m perplexed ATM on Tua.”

1ST Round: Picked Two: Jonathan Taylor Winner of the the Doak Walker award for two season top running back in the nation.

5,634 yards to surpass Herschel Walker’s record for most yards by a player through his junior season (5,596).

In just three seasons, Taylor has climbed to sixth on the all-time rushing chart, with 6,080 yards on the ground. He’d almost certainly pass fellow Badger Ron Dayne (7,125 yards) were he to return for his senior year.Among this year’s top awards, the Doak Walker featured one of the tightest races. Taylor and fellow finalists Chuba Hubbard and J.K. Dobbins were the top three runners in FBS. Hubbard led the country in rushing yards (1,936) and was followed by Taylor (1,909) and Dobbins (1,829).

12-15-2019 Prior to the Giant game QB Fitzpatrick was the leading Rusher for the Dolphins at week 14th with 184 rushing yards. (To by pass Taylor resembles by passing Ederign James or Ricky Williams for a 4th to 7th round R/B??????

1ST Round: Picked One: Isiah Simmons (7th to 13th picked)

What do you get when you combine a player a little taller than Derrick Johnson but equally adept at getting into the backfield or tackling in space? A man a little faster than Tyrann Mathieu and with the same nose for the football? He’s the best tweener Safety/Linebacker combo player since Brian Urlacher and he is the 2019 Butkus Award Winner. His name is Isaiah Simmons and he could be the player the Chiefs select with their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft if he’s still on the board or they decide to trade up for him.
At 6-4 and 230 pounds, with room for growth, this rangy athlete makes playing sideline-to-sideline look easy. He’ll shoot gaps to drop running backs and quarterbacks with equal fervor. Johnson’s wingspan seems more like that of an even taller man and he uses those long arms to pick off passes, disrupt throwing lanes and bat balls down.

Simmons has a laundry list of accolades. He is a 2018 College Football National Champion, 2019 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, 2019 First Team All-ACC and winner of the 2019 Butkus Award, given to the Nation’s Top Linebacker.

Very nice Article you posted: The number 1 and 2nd picked appear to be out of reached. Joe Burrows will go to the Bengal’s who has earned it. Most likely if Joe Burrow’s go to the Bengal he will have a horrible NFL Career with those losers.

The Giant or Skins will select Chased Young and it would not surprised me if he pulled an Eli Manning refused to go there moved! Then What??

3rd: The flip of a coin for an O/T or W/R for someone?? The questioned is who would be stupid enough to trade up for those selections?

I see the Dolphins trading back to number 7th or 10 picked and taking Isaiah Simmons who should be the number 3 picked in the draft just my opinion.

I still think they can get the #2 with a bunch of luck. I’d trade out of the #3. Washington will be desperate to get the tackle… and many others will be as well I bet. Cleaveland among them.
