Phins Lose… But Giants Still Ahead on Draft Board!

Phins are in ‘no man’s land’ and even a win in their last two games won’t fix it

Since the preseason and even up until two weeks ago, I have wanted the Miami Dolphins to win every game they could… draft position be damned. But, given their current situation, I’ve changed my mind completely. Despite the Phins loss this week, they are still stuck in the ‘no man’s land’ on the draft board. Because of the strength of schedule difference, the Giants still hold the 2nd Overall pick, and the Redskins are a hair behind Miami with 4th Overall.

The incredible fractions of a decimal point in the strength of schedule that is keeping Miami in the 3rd spot boggles the mind!

Adam Beasley misspoke a bit but the SOS is so, so close

It feels like a screw job from the football gods that Miami loses to the Giants and still misses out on the coveted spot. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to play out this way. Miami has time to change their fate.

But they also might need the Redskins, who play the Giants this week, to lose.

You can bet with the best sportsbook software services that the best-case scenario for Miami now is to go 0-2 over these next two weeks. I despise to say it, but it’s the truth. If Miami loses these next two games, they could be in the position to draft Burrow or more likely Young. Either of those players would infinity outweigh a win this week or next.

Brian Flores has shown enough given he has had the B squad and now the C squad to work with. I’m not saying Flores should or will coach to lose… Rather we fans should hope the other teams win… especially the Giants. And if we do lose, pop a cork in reluctant celebration, then never ever feel good about a Dolphins loss again… ever!

Beating the Patriots in Foxborough won’t happen. But even one win would have Miami tumbling down the draft board and maybe out of the Top 5 because there are so many bad teams this year.

A Phins win against the Bengals would be game set and match for the Dolphins in the Chase Young Bowl.

The problem is losing to the Bengals won’t be easy and it will also depend on the Giants winning a game against either the Redskins or the Eagles. On a positive note, the Bengals aren’t worried about Miami catching them and overtaking pole position for the top pick in the draft… and Joe Burrow. Cincinnati won’t be in tank mode this week, so they’ll give Miami everything they have.

It disgusts me to say it, but let’s hope they (and the Giants) do!
