Phins Make Another Flurry of Roster Moves

Phins claimed a player off waivers & Covid-19 hits the roster

The Phins claimed UDFA rookie CB Javari Davis off waivers from the Kansas City Cheifs. Miami also placed place Blake Ferguson, Benito Jones, and Tankersley on the reserve / COVID-19 list. This is the second rush of moves by the Dolphins this week as they prep for the veterans’ arrival to Training Camp.

Miami picked up another rookie

At Auburn, Javari Davis went against top competition and produced good results. His career stats are nothing to sneeze at with 150 tackles, 32 passes defended, and 8 interceptions during his four-year career. Due to his small size of 5’8” 183 lbs, Davis is pigeonholed as a nickel cornerback, though.

Davis being a specialist isn’t a bad thing because the Phins have some uncertainty at nickel position where 2nd-year player Nik Needham and 1st Rd pick rookie Noah Igbinoghene are slated to battle it out. Needham has the experience but is a bit short on physical talent and Igbinoghene is physically talented but raw. So, neither are the clear cut answer at this point. Add to this, Nickel is a difficult position to excel at as a rookie because corners don’t have the boundary to limit the receiver’s route tree. — What Are Pay Per Head Casino Services?

Miami can always fall back on Bobby McCain as a reserve nickel, so fans shouldn’t be concerned. The addition of Davis puts a little extra pressure on Needham and Igbinoghene to be their best. This is a very good thing. Competition is always a good recipe to get the best from a player.

Tankersley can’t catch a break

Also, CB Cordrea Tankersley (along with LS Blake Ferguson and DT Benito Jones) was added to the COVID-19 list, so there is one less cover defender on the roster. Tankersly hasn’t played in years, struggled with the mental side of the game, and was severely injured in his last action. It’s a good bet with the pay per head services that his time with the Miami Dolphins just about done.

The final roster move by the Miami Dolphins waived tight end Michael Roberts due to injury. This adds another reason for the trade of tight end Adam Shaheen.
