Phins Out Of Playoffs, Now What?

Phins future is anyone’s guess

Decades of Phins fans haven’t seen real success

After the latest disappointing loss, the Phins are out of the Playoffs with
one game left in 2018.

A win against the Bills would get them to 8-8… and avoid another losing season. The win would be a moral victory for Adam Gase and fans, but not much else.

Honestly, part of me would rather a slightly better draft position in 2019 to help Adam Gase or entice a new regime.

Problem with this though is we are currently picking 15th and a loss won’t move us down much. About 10th in the 1st Round is the best position we can get.  But those few spots could be the difference between the right and wrong player with Miami’s 1st Pick.

Frustration has been the lifeblood of Miami Dolphins News fans.

Hope for a Playoff win dies pretty fast just about every season. It’s been forever since we’ve had a legitimate chance to win the Super Bowl. And what’s worse, there isn’t a bookie website software like Ace Per Head in the world predicting a Dolphins Super Bowl win any time soon.

AGAIN, Phins fans will have to live for the offseason where the action and hope is at a zenith

‘Gase or not to Gase’ is the question?!

Given the ‘news’ that Mike Tannenbaum is going to get canned, I’m on the fence with whether Gase stays or goes. It’s easy to say hasta la vista, Gase, now that Miami failed to make the playoffs again. However, Mr. Ross has already hinted that the team was hit hard by injuries this season. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Ross gave Gase a mulligan this season.

I’m currently leaning towards Gase getting one more chance… although, I don’t know if this is for the best.

While M.J. thinks a total house cleaning is best, the problem is if we do fire Gase, who are we going to replace him with? Also, any replacement will start another rebuilding project. So it will be another three years just to see if this next Coach can do what the last half dozen Head Coaches couldn’t: Win a Super Bowl.

I know sometimes Gase calls some real head-scratching plays. But as inconsistent as this team has been, Gase has always gotten his guys to play hard for him. That’s gotta’ amount to something. No?

Sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don’t

Also, the Phins have shown the ability to win some close games with their no quit attitude. My bet is if Gase is fired then some team will snatch him up, give him the right talent, and he’ll end up being a successful coach. Look at Jeff Ireland and Rick Spielman. Both are directing quality teams, while the team that fired them (Phins) continues to languish.

At least if Gase does stay, the offensive and defensive schemes will most likely be the same, even if Defensive Coordinator Burke does get axed.  Having continuity in an organization goes a long way… for the most part. Just look at the best teams in the league, most of them have long-tenured coaches and stable systems.

The real kick in the pants is that the stability gained by keeping Gase and Grier could just end up stable mediocrity. It will take something special by the decision makers to fix this one. Does Ross have that kind of wisdom? I guess after all these decades of suck, one more season with this crew, just to make certain they aren’t the answer, won’t be the end of the world…

Although, by early 2019, if we are running the same excuses and the same results, I might think differently.

Man, this sad story is getting old… and so am I.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about what is going to happen this offseason?
