The Dolphins haven’t beaten a winning team… but there’s plenty of time for that!
I think it’s fair to say that most Miami Dolphins News fans are–or should be happy–to be 6-3 going into our Bye week and sitting in first place in the AFC East. EYES! This the 2023 Phins haven’t won against a team with a winning record, which will be the storyline this season until we do. But, we Phins fans need to keep things in context, this team has achieved what no Dolphins team has in the last two decades by not only beating the teams they should beat… they’ve destroyed them!
A full Dolphins squad coming!
The Dolphins will rest this week, get healthy, and come out of the shoot Wk 11 hot with standout rookie running back DeVon Achane and Top 5 Guard Robert Hunt coming back at home against the Raiders. Achane has proven himself to be a home run threat and a key component to this offense. Hunts blocking will only give him more space. And the crazy part is that Achane has yet to run behind Terron, Connor, and Hunt. So both these players’ return will make this offense and team better.
The National media can argue all they want about Miami not being able to beat good teams, but the fact remains that we can only play against the teams that are on our schedule. Winning a game in the NFL is never a given, so I will take any win we can get, regardless of what the media thinks of the competition.
Now, with that being said, the Dolphins’ next 5 games are what most of the best PPH program would call winnable games against teams with losing records, so Miami should all be favored to win them all. So, if Miami keeps beating teams with losing records would be 11-3 by the time they have to face a team with a winning record, which would be the Dallas Cowboys. I’ll take that in a heartbeat!
Winning the division is the first goal!
In a loaded AFC and a tight AFC East division, every win is going to count in regards to earning a playoff spot, winning the division, and jockeying for a seeding position. An 11-3 record would mean Miami likely locks up the AFC East given the struggles of the Jets and Bills. Even still, we face the Bills at home if it’s even close.
Of the next 5 games, the two against the Jets will probably be the toughest, considering it is a division rival… and are the most critical. They have a very good defense and running game, however, their quarterback position is a total disaster. If Miami can take care of business and win these games, which they are favored to win, then we will put ourselves in a very good position before the final gauntlet against three teams that will most likely have a winning record.
Let’s remember that momentum is critical in the NFL, look no further than the Bengals. How you end a season is far more important than how you start a season. Miami has a chance to get hot these next 5 games and build their confidence and momentum to get themselves ready to play their best football in December. If they do this then they can finally flip the script and start beating the other playoff and Super Bowl contenders in this league!
Let’s wait and see before we write off the team, they are 6-3 and have done some amazing things to get here!
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans’ thoughts if Miami can end this season even better than they started it?
