Winless Phins are on target for the top pick in the 2020 Draft
It’s one rough year to be a Miami Dolphins fan. Sometimes I wish I could fast hit forward and get to the offseason. But as a die-hard Phins fan, I’m glued to every game even though it feels like the suffering may never end.
I get why ‘this nose-dive’ is being done. After decades of mediocrity, even the top per head bookie services in the world as www.AcePerHead.com are betting the Phins plan offers a good chance to succeed.
At the very least it’s the most coherent direction we’ve headed in a very long time.
So with that being said, I’m finally at peace with this plan and with the goal of going 0-16…
… and for better or worse, we are on track.
Yes, I would like them to win at least one game. But the reality is the 2019 Season is fielding a lot of bad teams. And these teams aren’t even trying to have a hard reset. They are just doing what comes naturally.
Plenty of teams want in on the #1 pick in 2020
The Jets, Redskins, Bengals, and Falcons all had plans of making the playoffs this year. However, aside from the Bengals, all these teams only have one win. Unfortunately, the year Miami decides to strip itself of assets and gear up for the offseason with high draft picks, they have a ton of competition to be the worst.
The Phins must work overtime to reach this goal of getting the ‘Top Pick’ in 2020 because anything less than the #1 overall pick would be a disaster. And winning just one or two games this year could be the difference from picking first to falling out of the Top 5.
We all know an elite quarterback is our biggest need and getting the #1 pick would be a huge advantage towards that goal. With that pick, the Dolphins will have control of their destiny. Ultimately, that could end in either a good or bad destiny… depending on who they pick. Plenty of teams have drafted a bust with the top pick in the draft. But at least there won’t be any excuses.
Phins verse Steelers was a surprise on many levels
As for last night’s game, it actually was one of the better prime time games we have played in a while. It wasn’t that long ago we had three prime time games in a row and were blown out in each one…
… and that was when we really wanted to win games.
Monday night we played a very good first half–save for the all-out blitz on 3rd and 20… Wink-wink.
I honestly think Flores blew that call on purpose because he was worried that Miami might actually win the game. After the half ended, the camera passed by Coach Flores smiling and giving a wink to someone as if to say ‘don’t worry, we are still on track for the #1 pick’.
Yeah, it’s a conspiracy theory, but I’m sticking with it.
The Dolphins did make it an entertaining game even though that touchdown before the half made it clear another loss was on its way. Games like this are far better than complete blowouts. Sad but true.
Minkah having two interceptions was a hard pill to swallow though. With Miami’s luck, it figures. But I’m keeping my eyes on the prize: Who will we select with our 1st round pick from Pittsburgh. Even if the two careers are close, I’ll consider it a win.
And that’s what the whole ball of wax is about. Who will we select with all these picks! Six months till we find out.
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about last night’s game and the path to the number 1 pick?
