Phins horrific run defense meets Bijan Robinson
The Miami Dolphins are currently an abysmal 1-6 on the season and with elite runner Bijan Robinson on deck ready to destroy the Phins 32nd run defense, 1-7 is almost certain. The Dolphins are now entering the ‘hard part’ of their schedule, and this Falcon game is going to be tough indeed. It will take a lot more than we’ve seen from this regime so far to pull off a win here–a whole lot more!
When you look at the Falcons production this season, they outclass the Dolphins on both sides of the ball, and the scary part is they are far more dangerous at home.
So, let’s take a look at the gory details of the matchups.
The Falcons game feels like it will be Colts results
Below are some key rankings of the Dolphins and Atlanta offense.
The only area where the Phins are close is points per game ranking 25th to the Falcons 28th. Sadly, the Dolphins are far worse on the road scoring 5pts less on the road and it’s compounded by the Falcons scoring more at home with almost 8pts more.
Clearly, Atlanta likes to run the football a lot with 3rd most attempts and 4th most production. You can bet with the best pay per head that this alone gives me the willies thinking about our defense trying to stop them. But when you compare it to our lack of rushing attempts and production, that means this poor defense could be in a for a very long day and Robinson for a possible historic one.
Falcons Defense Poses as Many Problems as Their Offense
Below are some key rankings of the Dolphins and Atlanta defense.
Dolphins one strength is supposed to be their passing game, and the Falcons are the stingiest pass defense in the league. Combined with their decent run defense, this Atlanta defense is allowing the 2nd least yards per game. Not a great set up for success in the least for the Phins.
So, when you look at it objectively, the Dolphins trajectory for the top pick in the upcoming draft should be one step closer.
This is what the season has boiled down to: rooting for a high draft pick.
The sad part is that Chris Grier is currently doing the scouting on the college players as we speak! Who knows if this clown will be gone by the end of the season or keeps his job or is moved up into upper management, which is just as bad as keeping him as GM. However you slice it, Grier will have a large impact on this top pick, so even that hope is getting soiled.
How very Dolphins.
Go Phins!!!
