Phins Wins! Jest Back! Perfect Season Safe!

The Miami Dolphins fans haven’t had it easy for a long time but yesterday was one of the easiest Sundays in a while with three victories in one day! Three victories? Yup! Miami defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-19, the New York Jets imploded in epic fashion to the Colts, ending their season, and the Buffalo Bills handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season keeping the Phins Perfect Season alive for another year.

I don’t think I’ve smiled and laughed that hard on a Sunday in a long, long time.

Obviously, the Phins notching the win and moving to 4-6 is the most critical of the three and the one I’ll talk about the most in this article. But knowing I don’t have to ‘ring my hankie’ like I did when the Patriots went to the Superbowl undefeated takes a big load off my back. And seeing the Jets crash and burn in one of the most spectacular letdowns in NFL history makes even the tough times we’ve had as a Phins fans just a little easier.

Am I being petty? You can bet with the best pay per head that I am, and it feels so good.

Dolphins offense carried the team to the win

While the Dolphins defense didn’t have its best day, they did have a few critical stops, but it was Tua and the offense that drove the team to the win with their highest point total on the season.

To be fair, the Raiders aren’t a good team, and their defense came in injured and took some hard injuries during the game. Still, Tua has had two back-to-back games where he came up big in the clutch. Besides the fumble, this was Tua’s best game of the season going 28 of 36 for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. But there were a handful of game defining plays Tua made on the move that was the most impressive.

This was a game where Tua’s play was without dispute the key towards the Phins winning.

Yes, he has injuries concerns. No, I’m not saying he’s ‘arrived’. What I am saying is Tua played like a top quarterback this week without question and though he needs many more of these to justify his huge contract, this was an excellent day for the kid.

Let’s hope many more are coming.

Playoffs are a long shot, but let’s focus on one game at a time

The New England Patriots are up next and then the hard part of the schedule kicks off on the road against Green Bay.

The Phins have very little wiggle room with the Denver Broncos winning big over the Atlanta Falcons making the 7th seed farther away despite the win. But the Phins and their fans need to focus on one week at a time. Then when it’s all said and done, we can start talking about keeping or scrapping this regime.

I need to see a ton to keep Chris Grier as the GM because to me, it’s Grier’s poor leadership that has us in the ugly spot we are in.

Yeah, McDaniel has blame, so does Tua and his health. But Grier decided on the backup quarterback situation, the low-end offensive line talent, and the thin roster in general. We’ve had unprecedented capital over form 2020-2021 and now we are the oldest team in the league. But I don’t know if Ross will be as inclined as I am. Winning makes it easier for Ross to run it back. As much as I don’t like Grier, if we make the post season then it would be hard to argue giving him another season.

But let’s take one game at a time and see what this roster does as the crunch time gets more intense and the competition harder.

I’m just enjoying this week, and I’ll let tomorrow handle itself. It was a good day wasn’t it! Go Phins!!!

Grier needs to go! The back-up QB decision going with Skylar Thompson who is NOT an NFL caliber QB was a horrible decision. Grier is “cheap” There were plenty of quality veteran QB’s who could have been brought in to camp back in July or earlier which would have provided a better chance at winning should and when Tua goes down! McDaniels I am sure also had a part in this decision too! The decision to give Tua a big new contract was also a “nail in the coffin” for me this year. We should have exercised his 5th year option and told him to pound salt like the Ravens did with Lamar Jackson. That extra money could have been used to help shore up the OL and interior DL, possibly another edge rusher. Marvin Allen is the Assistant GM I believe. He came from Kansas City and their scouting department. Allen was instrumental in getting the Chiefs to draft Mahomes. I say turn over the reins to him and give him a chance. McDaniels is a very good OC, but not sure he is a HC. We say see. Like I said in previous responses, this team will have a losing season. Tua’s new deal and incompetent back-up QB play with poor OL and not enough quality dept at interior DL have cost us this season. Once again the possibility of change and no continuity or stability at HC/DC looms large! Happy Thanksgiving!
