Plenty of Phins Roster Moves This Week… Any Gems?

Phins Roster continues to get turned over

The Miami Dolphins roster saw another series of moves this week. Par for the course in the Phins 2019 Season. So far, they have been pretty good at finding gems in the NFL garbage bin. Will any of this week’s moves end up noteworthy?

Phins made three roster additions adding DB Nate Brooks from the Patriots practice squad, LB Jamal Davis from the Titans practice squad, and claimed G Adam Pankey off waivers from the Packers. To make room for these players, Miami placed DB Ryan Lewis and Ken Webster on injured reserve and waived running back Zach Zenner, who they signed only a week ago.

The Dolphins have churned the bottom of their roster with 9 moves in the last 9 days.

I love what Coach Flores and GM Grier are doing because it shows real intelligence and drive to get better. As the old saying goes, you are as strong as your weakest link. This is why Miami continues to work on the bottom half.

Grier and Flores are finding and developing players from every corner of the NFL

This staff has already shown that they can coach up players and are getting production from their former draft picks that were underperforming. In addition, they have also been able to unearth talent from undrafted free agents such as Williams, Laird, and Needham. They made some profitable trades for players underperforming on another team. Biegel and Charlton were had on the cheap and are having success bin Miami.

This is a totally different approach than we’ve ever had in Miami. In fact, it might end up setting a trend for the NFL.

Chris Grier is shrewdly using the Injured Reserve

If you are paying attention, you can see what they are doing with the Injured Reserve. The Dolphins have at least 15 players on I.R.! Maybe I am overthinking this but it appears they are putting guys on I.R. who could return this season. Stashing players on I.R. is a tool to help churn their roster and keep the guys they like for next year… while still being able to bring more in for a look.

One man’s trash has become Miami’s treasure a few times.

This is a terrific idea because it gives them a chance to have live-action tryouts for some of these guys that we pick up from other teams.  Given how this coaching staff has utilized players to their strengths, some of these players are proving themselves under fire and when given jobs that suit their skills.

The best sportsbook software sites like www.AcePerHead.com, are betting 40 to 50% of this roster is going to get turned over after this season, so it’s smart to keep looking for more talent. This is just another reason to have faith in this current regime. Hopefully, some of these last-minute signings for the season will actually find a role on the team.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about how the Dolphins are approaching the building of this young team
