Preseason Game Offers 1st Look At Fitzpatrick
Phin fans get their 1st look at Fitzpatrick on Thursday night
The talk before the draft was that Miami would go for broke on a QB in the first round of the 2018 draft. Phinsnews originally picked Vita Vea as Miami’s target but we thought Minkah Fitzpatrick could make the secondary special… Although, we never thought he’d fall that far. But things magically shook out and ‘Nick Saban Jr.’ fell into their laps at #11.
Never thought I’d ever say ‘thanks to Nick Satan’.
Thursday night’s slew of Preseason Games will be step 1 in the comparison of the 4 top QB’s with Fitzpatrick. As for comparisons with Vea, they’ll have to wait. He’s not expected to play against Miami because of a calf injury.
Despite the fact that QB’s are the premier position in the NFL, there’s a good chance that fans will be very happy about the pick no matter how it shakes out.
Many of the best pay per head reviews sites have not been kind to the Dolphins chances this upcoming season. However, one silver lining is that they all believe that Fitzpatrick has the ability and work ethic to be a Pro Bowl player in this league.
Been a while since a 1st Round pick has was a winner out of the shoot
Sure, we still haven’t even seen him in a real game or even a preseason game, but all reports out of camp so far have been encouraging… And again, we’ll get a short look on Thursday.
Fitzpatrick has already made his presence felt on the field by getting his hands on numerous passes and by being consistent, versatile, and a leader… just as he was in Alabama. In addition, his work ethic has been off the charts. He’s always one of the first players in the building and last players to leave each day. Again, just like in Alabama.
M.J. keeps pushing Fitzpatrick being the single high Safety in Cover 1 as the primary area where he’ll help. I really like him a lot going against the Tight Ends. I suspect in both areas he’ll make a much needed positive impact.
While I was on vacation a great story came out about Fitzpatrick after he signed his 4-year rookie contract for $16.4 million in June. There was no big celebration on his part. Instead, he went right to work well into that night. Now that’s extraordinary!
Can Miami finally stop Tight Ends from abusing them?
Fitzpatrick has said that he’s not just looking to be good, he wants to be great. It’s refreshing to have a player on the team that knows being selected in the first round does not guarantee greatness. Fitzpatrick seems to truly understand that only hard work and determination will get him to where he wants to be in this league.
I can’t wait to see him on the field for the Dolphins. It will be a real highlight in the game. Fitzpatrick will likely see a decent amount of reps as well. I’ve been watching him for years at Alabama and he always caught my eye with numerous impact plays. If he can just carry this over to the NFL, then he will be one of the best first-round picks since Dan Marino. What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans’ thoughts about the expectations for Fitzpatrick?

IT’S VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE MIAMI DOLPHINS CLEARLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY HAVE IN FITZPATRICK!
What does Fitzpatrick bring to the Dolphins?
Two time All American in 2016 and 2017
“ESPN College Football Awards Show.”
He won the Chuck Bednarik and Jim Thorpe awards during the live televised broadcast at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Fitzpatrick was the Crimson Tide’s fifth-leading tackler with 52 stops, including six for loss, 1½ sacks, one forced fumble, a blocked kick, three quarterback hurries and seven pass breakups.
That being said He has the 4-4 speed, intelligent etc. to become one of the top Free Safety in the League. Not to take any thing away from our starting Free Safeties But in a few years he can Manage the middle up and down and assist our corners. In the cover 1 and cover 3 the Free Safety and dominant pass rusher make this system works and if they fell the system fells.
The Dolphins has two pretty good Free Safeties already so no need to throw him out their too early since he can play slot etc. I thought if he rides the bench to long this season. But don’t rushed it Miami.
He looked good last night, brother! A little slow on that break up, but I think the blown coverage surprised him… still excellent making good out of bad. Best single high S we’ve had in ages. Mostly, it looked very good… still a long way to go.
On a side note, sent a couple emails to Lemmus… no reply. Hope is well… snake bites are so tough to overcome.
Yes! Snakes bites the recovery I understand fair different with each victim. Hope all is well with Lemmus. GOD SPEED to a healthy recovery.
