Quinn Has Met With Saints… What Now?

Quinn has met with Dallas & the Saints… rumors say others interested

Quinn situation is being handled perfectly

When free agency began, all the best bookie servicesbet that the Dolphins would part ways with DE Robert Quinn to avoid paying a $1.1 million dollar bonus.

The lure to get his roughly $12 million dollar contract off the books seemed too tempting.

However, the Dolphins allowed the bonus deadline to pass without getting rid of Quinn and paid up to keep him.

Surprise!

The Dolphins proved to have a brass set and found not one but two trading partners for Quinn… and possibly more.

Miami managing to unload Ryan Tannehill to the Titans was nothing short of a miracle.

The ‘slick willy’ selling point was the Phins paid a portion of Tannehill’s contract making him cheaper for the Titans. This obviously made the deal far more attractive. As a result, the Dolphins acquired a 4th round draft pick in 2020.

I love this strategy of paying the other team some money to take a player that the Dolphins are ready to waive.

Dollars for picks. Show them the money!

The Browns thought that one up with Brock Osweiler. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. I hope Cleveland is flattered

And considering that the Dolphins are at just about $29 million in cap space now, they have plenty of ammunition to pay a part of Quinn’s contract to an interested team.

Do it. DO. IT!

The talk is Miami is willing to pay around $5 million to another team trading for Quinn.

Quinn recently left Dallas without a contract and reports are that it was mainly because Quinn is looking for a multi-year deal… and not just a 1-year deal.

He hopes the Saints make that multi-year offer.

So far, no news.

If the Dolphins can end up coming away with another 4th or even a 5th round draft pick this would be considered a real win for Chris Grier and this organization. Stockpiling draft picks is always a good thing for a franchise that is looking to rebuild.

Even if this deal does not go through with Quinn and the Saints, this is still a solid strategy that the Dolphins are putting in place this offseason.

I do expect them to get something. They could use that extra pick to help their O-line. This draft is said to have quality starters up until the 5th Round.

Chris Grier said he’d keep Quinn if a trade doesn’t materialize. Smart. If they keep him, they could earn a Compensatory Pick when he leaves a Free Agent next year. Given what we’ve witnessed so far, they have the nerve to stick to their guns.

Either way, the Dolphins are finally making decisions with their heads instead of their hearts.  However you slice it, that’s a step in the right direction!!

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans thoughts about how they have handled Quinn this offseason?
