Rebuilding 2019 Dolphins: Coach Pick The Cornerstone

With the 2019 Dolphins in a rebuilding mode, fans must prepare for the process

2019 Dolphins are in full rebuild mode

The 2019 Dolphins will begin their season with Adam Gase and Mike Tannenbaum looking for a job. Of the triumvirate power structure, Chris Grier is the last man standing and now with the final say… even over Steven Ross.

‘Grier in charge’ is far from the worst-case scenario for fans and the team. It will take time to find out if it was the best outcome… This Draft will be a strong sign either way.

I leaned towards giving Gase another shot, but Ross’ decision is understandable. I’m definitely happy to be rid of ex-Jet Tannenbaum, whose resume comprises destroying teams financially, and not even making them a better football team.

The faces of the franchise over the last several year will change dramatically

Then there’s Ryan Tannehill… who is all but gone. There’s no reason Miami should pay his the full amount of his $26.6 million hit in 2019. With Gase gone as his main advocate, he will be released or my some miracle traded. However, they will still have to eat his $13 million in dead cap money either way.

With Miami rebuilding, no longer will the Front Office waste large chunks of their CAP in Free Agency on older players. This ‘old build model’ is thankfully over.

The Phins rebuild will only work if they can find a quality Quarterback

The team will get younger, and, likely gain more draft picks to help them build through the draft. Grier will also select at least one QB in this draft… maybe even two. The more players they can bring in the better the odds are that they will find a franchise QB. Right now the only quality prospect they have is Luke Falk. They need two more good prospects either from the draft or Free Agency.

However, before this all happens, Miami has to decide on a new head coach. This choice will set the tone and is the most urgent, pressing, and crucial matter at hand. No duh, right?!

It won’t be long before we find out who will lead the Dolphins in 2019

Some of the best sportsbook software providers like AcePerHead.com are already talking about various names that Miami may consider for its next head coach.

At present, these popular coaching options aren’t on the interview list:

  • Rex Ryan
  • Josh McDaniels
  • Mike Munchak
  • Dan Campbell
  • Mike McCarthy
  • Darren Rizzi

These coaches have a scheduled interview or a request for one has been offered:

  • Kris Richard
  • Vic Fangio
  • Eric Bieniemy
  • Brian Flores

Selecting the right head coach is like selecting the right QB. On paper, these guys always appear to be on the rise… but this rarely ends up the case.

The problem is there are so many factors that go into making one guy ‘better’ than another. As an example, Mike McCarthy might have much of his success attributed to having one of the best QBs in the game. Which came first the chicken or the egg? The reality is you have to hire a coach before you find out for sure what he is. This is where a good FO can hedge their best with the interview.

A quick breakdown of the coaches being mentioned
  • Dan Campbell already had a shot at being Head Coach in Miami, his added experience with the Saints will boost his resume.
  • Rizzi is one of the best special team coaches in the league; however, that does not always translate into being a successful Head Coach. Since he hasn’t received an interview offer, he’ll likely only be an option if Grier’s first choices dry up.
  • I’m 100% certain Rex Ryan should not be chosen. All indications are Grier has no interest.
  • Bieniemy is Kansas City’s Offensive Coordinator has built up a nice resume with the Chiefs this year, but let’s not forget he has elite talent at QB to help carry his offense. One thing is though that the Andy Reed coaching tree has had a load of success.
  • Vic Fangio is the Bears defensive Coordinator and they have one of the best defenses in the league this year. He does though have the best linebacker in football in Mack.
  • Munchak is the O-Line coach of Pittsburgh and they have always have had one of the best O-Lines in the league. But can he be a successful head coach?  He’s already flopped once in Tennessee.
  • Richard is the Defensive CB coach of the Cowboys who has done an excellent job with that group and was a former Seahawk DB coach and Defensive Coordinator that was around for the heyday of the Legion of Doom.
  • Brian Flores has been with the Patriots for 11 years. Belichick passed over his own son as Defensive Coordinator for Flores. He appears to check most of the talent boxes. But the Belichick coaching tree is the opposite of the Reed tree… and Flores has only been a coordinator for one year.
Kris Richard checks all the boxes for a rookie coach

I like Richard the most of the bunch. This is just my gut talking. Richard was a former player and has been successful at the two NFL teams he has coached. But no one really knows if this will translate into a successful Head Coach. Whoever they get, let’s hope the 2019 Dolphins get it right!

    HELLO Fin Fans

The Game is changing and we have not evolved, all cinventional Pocket Passers, no solid dual threat QB.

Current NFL starting quarterbacks considered to be dual threats include Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Marcus Mariota, Deshaun Watson, Mitchell Trubisky, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and, to a lesser extent, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, and Carson Wentz.

    Maybe I’m wrong about Grier!

The Coach and the Quarterback must be Alpha.

    Dabo Swinney Clemson
    Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy
Jimbo Fisher played Clemson score was 28-26
Syracuse football coach Dino Babers’ salary ranks next-to-last in ACC: played Clemson score was 27-23
Eric Dungey is the Quarterback and
South Carolina Gamecocks Coach William Lawrence Muschamp vs Clemson the score was 56 35 the QB was Jake Bentley who Will stay in college threw for 510 yards and five touchdowns against No. 2-ranked Clemson last month, so

I know the next Coach cannot except failure, the quarterback is key in my books, every quarterback we have brought to this team has never been a true dual threat QB.

    1. Dual threat must be the pre requisite for the dolphins because we have worn out the offensive line not fixed excuse for a decade.
    2. QB Must be able to lift everybody else game.

    HELLO dol-fans

Can we interview Syracuse Coach Babers? His team is ranked 2nd in the ACC under Clemson. The closest team to defeating Clemson in that conference this 2018 season.

Babers began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Hawaii in 1984. From there, Babers coached at numerous schools highlighted by offensive coordinator positions at both Arizona and Texas A&M as well as an assistant head coach position with UCLA. After four years as an assistant at Baylor, on December 9, 2011, Babers was named as the new head football coach at Eastern Illinois University to replace Bob Spoo.[3] In two seasons at Eastern Illinois, the Panthers made the playoffs both times[2], led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who was a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

On December 18, 2013, Babers was hired as the new head coach at Bowling Green following the departure of previous Falcons’ coach Dave Clawson to Wake Forest.[4] Babers led Bowling Green to the 2015 Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship.[5]

On December 5, 2015 Babers became the head coach at Syracuse.[6]

The Dolphins interview process should be as such: Tell us your plan to make the playoff in 2019 season and a Supper Run in the 2020 season i.e. what is your plan to insure key healthy players are playing in the month of December? What is your planned to fixed our offensive line that we could never fixed in over a decade?, Can you help us trade our key players for more than a 4th round pick?

    Then shut up and listen!

    • admin

did you see this: “Just saw a report from Salguero that said a high ranking Dolphins official had to intervene with Gase who was screaming at Ross saying, “I know more about football than you do.”

      Pathetic.

Yeah, we need to dump a lot of players. Most we won’t get jake for. O-line is the key unit, but one of many.

Hey Pay Back is a Mother!

Coach Gase will get another Coaching Job hopefully this will make a good football rivalry?

The Miami Dolphins has gamble and gamble on the inexperience Coaches to moved this team forward and history has proven or produced two decades failure for this team.

The last two season I saw the Rams making serious adjustment and I thought for sure it would land them into the Super Bowl this 2019 year.

Problem is no one wants to really come here and no vet coach wants to come and be saddled with Grier as GM. I hope Rizzi has a shot… just not sure he can put together a staff. This isn’t going to be easy to find a good HC. We are going to have to pick from the scrap heap…

I think that’s the culture established with the Dolphins and fans it’s to difficult!

Is another excuse! Established the truth then we can win.
Telling the owners and fans what they want to hear does not win games.

The truth is your management team, coaching staff and quarterback are sub standard and this is the plan to correct this.

Management team who recognized good chaacter, talent, season health durability.

Coach who will not accept accuses.
Quarterback who is dual threat and can carry this team when needed and elevate those playing with him.
