Patience paid off in the Tannehill trade, reports hint that patience will pay off with Robert Quinn too
Reports are surfacing that Robert Quinn has not just one but two suitors looking to trade for his services.
This is another example of how valuable Cap responsibility and patience through the process is.
Getting anything for Quinn is a win…
… But, If Miami can haul in equal value (or better) than what they paid for Quinn, then we have a real positive data cluster forming on Chris Grier & Co.
There’s still a ways to go from this becoming a trend… and even farther before ‘we anoint their @$$*$’. Nevertheless, the pay per head services betting that the arrow is pointing up at any rate.
If Grier pulls this trade-off, he deserves a tip of the hat. A lesser regime would have simply cut Quinn and eaten the loss.
The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero is reporting that the Phins are even willing to take on Quinn’s contract to sweeten the trade… and the draft choice given in return for the Defensive End. Armando also reported that the New Orleans Saints have also had talks with Grier.
That Robert’s has been seen in Dallas throws a ton of weight behind this ‘rumor’.
There’s more evidence that Quinn will move on from the Dolphins with a pick being added to Miami’s coffers.
… And some more.
Given all the heavy hitters reporting this, there’s a good chance Miami will actually walk away with a solid pick in return. Armando sees a 3rd in the 2020 Draft.
That sounds about right… and tasty.
The bottom line is that this Front Office led by Chris Grier is outperforming expectations.
Maybe Steven Ross’ instincts have finally paid off?
When you factor in the Compensatory Picks that Miami will be receiving, the 2020 Draft may have Miami holding anywhere from 10 to 14 in total! That’s a ton of ammo. Yes, all the picks in the world are worthless if you draft duds. Still, a fair evaluation for what he has done is the only thing Grier (or anyone) deserves.
At this point, it’s hard to not see quality work being done by all involved in Miami’s decision-making process.
If you look at the 2018 Draft, where Grier was his most influence, there’s a lot to be hopeful about. Even ESPN who rarely gives Miami credit gave Grier’s draft last year a B+ Grade… and that’s without Mike Gesicki contributing much. If he should somehow develop, then we are looking at an A Grade.
If this is their bar for spotting talent, what will this team look like after they use 20 plus picks over the course of two drafts?
‘Be still my beating heart
It would be better to be cool
It’s not time to be open just yet
A lesson once learned is so hard to forget.’

Now, I’ll pump the breaks and remind all Phins Fans that there’s a load of from here to then. But, let yourself smile a little–if you are so inclined… that’s what football is all about. Go Phins!!!
