How many debacles can one owner create? Ross looks to break the record!
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins Super Bowl winning team, which as we all know is the only team in the history of the league to accomplish this feat. Instead of focusing on the upcoming season and celebrating a glorious achievement, the Dolphins are now in the news for compromising the integrity of the game. Same ole’, same ole’ story here with the Dolphins, I guess?!
Ross and his crew need to vacate
After a 6 month investigation, Coach Flores’ claim that owner Stephen Ross was willing to pay Flores 100k for each game he lost in his rookie season to secure the top draft pick was actually said, but “not meant to be taken seriously”, according to Goodell. It was also found that Ross had spoke on several occasions to several top employees that they should focus on draft status over winning. Still, the league found ‘no specific evidence’ of the Dolphins throwing games.
Ross and the Dolphins were found guilty of tampering in an “unprecedented level of scope” with Tom Brady and Sean Payton. There are specific rules on when you can speak to another team’s player or coach about possibly joining your team. ‘Owner’ Ross and the Dolphins were found guilty of violating anti-tampering rules on three occasions. As a result, the Dolphins will be stripped of their 2023 first round pick and 2024 third round pick, along with owner Ross suspended through October 17th and fined $1.5 million.
Clearly the biggest penalty is losing their upcoming first round pick. Most of the price per head bookie services were betting that if Miami and Tua did not make the playoffs this season, then Miami would be using one of their two first round picks in 2023 to draft a QB or to trade up to select a QB. Now Miami no longer has full ammunition in the first round next year and one less shot at drafting a high quality player next year.
Ross is an embarrassment that keeps on giving… and giving
Sadly, this is the pitiful state of our beloved Miami Dolphins. We can’t even cheat well… and still get in trouble. Hopefully this team and organization can just stick to focusing on getting prepared and ready for the upcoming season that is fast approaching. We can’t afford to have any unneeded distractions! At least it’s not a player or coach suspended, which should limit the overall effect on the team.
If Miami can win games this season and make the playoffs and Tua can show he can be a franchise QB, then the loss of the picks won’t be as detrimental to the future of our team. At least if we have the QB of the future on the roster, there is hope for the future. However, if we have a problem winning games this season, then these lost draft picks will magnify a bad position… and as impossible as it seems, our situation could get worse!

Sad, but properly stated! Ross needs to go, but he won’t sell the team. I believe he has become desperate to win a championship at all costs! When Ross bought the team he was about 72 years old. Now he is 82 or so years old and has become desperate to see a championship come to South Florida in his life-time. Sadly, this is not the first time Ross has done this. He went behind Tony Sparano’s back while still our HC and tried to recruit Jim Harbaugh who at the time was in SF. This for me comes down to character and integrity! Now for sure, NO marquee head coach, pro or college, will come near to the Dolphins no matter how good the team becomes! There is not trust at all regarding Ross! My hope is that he will come to his senses and stay the hell away at at least arms distance. This is the problem with an “owner/fan”. Ross let’s his emotions and zeal as a Dolphins fan cloud good judgement. We can only hope that McDaniel will do a good job, because if he does not, then another “green” coordinator will be our next HC. I personally feel that what Flores said about the $100k per game to “tank” is completely true. While we did not make the playoffs the last two (2) years, I did not feel at this time, Flores’ firing was justified. Yes we started out 1-7, but we went 8-7 in the second half of the season. There were a number of mitigating factors for not getting a better start to the season last year. However, Flores and Ross/Grier was a fractured relationship almost from the start! Ross tried to jump the gun with Brady and Peyton before it was legally the time. Again, desperation, not once, but three (3) times, or four (4) if you count Harbaugh. I only hope that if Ross passes away (and I am not wishing that for him), the next owner uses more common sense and patience, because Ross seems to have lost both! Your thoughts please?
I was so tired of this whole thing… glad Jimmy got back from vacation and did an article. To me, Flores was set up to fail… pushing in Tua without the staff or Flores making the calling 2020, driving off Fitz and Gailey in the process, letting Karras walk, trading Flowers, brewing as much talk about Watson as possible, and then using sources to do a hit job on Flores when in truth the vast majority of what was said was really about Grier and Ross… but, whatever at this stage. Ross will put in Beal who is another snake idiot after he is done… I just don’t like the owenrship and heir apparent. Grier is a weak man with little character who will do whatever Ross says and no coach of salt will come here… Our only hope is McD is good and can build despite the poor backdrop… The Dolphins media is really shown themselves to be water carries when we need them most…. so, here we are. Biggest season in a long time… so much hope, sooo much riding on success… Wk 1 is massive to tell us what road we are heading. To me the dream scenario is Tua is the guy, MdD is the guy and somehow a miricle happens that Ross is stripped of the team… Hope I’m wrong, Stephen!!!!
