The Chi Com virus has struck Ryan Fitzpatrick!
What a screw job! Ryan Fitzpatrick has waited for his whole career to make the postseason… and now he’ll miss them unless a miracle win happens to bring the Phins to the second round of the playoffs. News has come out that Fitzpatrick has the Wuhan Flu.. er, ahem, COVID 19 and will miss this week and the Wildcard game if the Phins make it there.
Bad news for the Phins and worse news for Fitzpatrick. Crazy how it goes! No one else has it, but Fitzpatrick. Weird?! Man, talk about letting the pressure off Brian Flores and the Dolphins staff. Talk about turning the pressure up exponentially on Tua.
A real Fitztragic moment has struck! The fates seem to have a peculiar destiny with Fitz. What a great and sad way to say goodbye to Fitz if his last game was played last week! That final play will go down in Dolphins lore, but what a crappy ending to go out like this.
If you aren’t back… Thanks for everything, Ryan Fitzpatrick. It has been a true pleasure to see you play for the Dolphins! Hope you and your family are well through this!!!
Tua is ALL in the spotlight
This puts everything on Tua. Jack Ruddock and Reid Sinnett will be Tua’s backups. The pay per head sites say it’s a sure bet that this isn’t good if Tua goes down.
Not good at all.
Tua will be the end-all, be-all for the Phins this week and the Wildcard game… if they make it. I never would have said this, but given the situation, I can’t help but see it as a possibility:
With a Top 5 pick, Tua must play well enough to not even give the Phins Front Office even a slight reason to consider drafting a QB with that pick. I’m not saying he has to play elite. But, if he totally flops and the Phins are bounced from the playoffs… how can Grier and Flores not consider taking a QB high in the 2021 Draft?
I’m not saying Tua will flop. Given what we’ve seen so far, he’s likely to play okay. And I think that would be enough to not consider drafting a QB high– although, I wished they would, not because of anything Tua has or hasn’t done, but it’s the smart play. They don’t have to use the 3rd pick on one, but with Fitz likely gone, find another QB because they are so valuable. I’ve been advocating Miami drafting another QB even before they picked Tua. If you draft well they are worth a fortune in trade. That’s for another article…
… What is keenly germane is Tua’s play Sunday will have HUGE implications going forward.
Now, should Tua rise to the occasion with even a good performance, all talk of using that 3rd pick is dead. I’m hoping like heck this ends up the case. All this sudden added pressure is great news for Tua. Just like the Dolphins, Tua is in control of his destiny. Fitzpatrick isn’t here, the bucks stops with Tua.
Very good news!
It’s these moments that change destinies and create legends. You’ve got to be in it to win it! Right?!
Tua take the wheel and drive to greatness. You’ve got it in you… DO IT! Go Phins!!!
