Ryan Tannehill Has Reached The Moment Of Truth
Oft-maligned Ryan Tannehill is hurt & on the road
Ryan Tannehill can be the cavalry or gravedigger for the 2018 Season[/caption]
Despite all the injuries and sloppy play, Miami is amazingly still in the thick of the playoff hunt.
Playoff appearance or not, the reality is they aren’t on par with the AFC juggernauts of the Patriots, Chiefs, and Steelers.
But with Ryan Tannehill back as the starter and paired with Adam Gase, there are a few crucial questions that must be answered:
-
- Can Tannehill stay healthy?
-
- Will Tannehill and Gase prove to be more than pedestrian?
- Is Tannehill a leader that can rise above circumstances and pressure?
These next 6 games will end the conversation, once and for all, on whether Tannehill is or is not a Franchise QB.
After 7 years we are finally at the moment of truth. Franchise QBs are difference makers. The level of difference Tannehill makes in this last stretch of 2018 will leave no doubt as to his importance in the Dolphins future.
It won’t be an easy task because the Dolphins offense hasn’t scored a touchdown since the debacle against the Texans. For those who aren’t math savvy, that’s roughly 9 quarters worth of football! Miami was able to move the ball against the Packers. However, they weren’t able to punch it in the Endzone.
The NFL doesn’t give Booby prizes for ‘close but no cigar’.
I do believe Tannehill back will make a difference. Will it be enough? I don’t think so. He’s obviously better than Brock Osweiler… when there’s no pressure. At the very least, Tannehill will help us to score an offensive touchdown this week.
A single offensive Touchdown won’t be enough to beat an Indianapolis Colts team that’s surging with a 4 game winning streak?
QB Andrew Luck appears to be back to 100% healthy and his elite self. Backed by a dominant Offensive Line (ahem, take note coach Gase), Luck hasn’t been sacked in 5 games. Our defense is definitely going to have its hands full. Add to this, the Colts have a balanced offense with a running attack that is gaining 111.7 yards per game and an average of 4.5 yards per attempt. None of these things bodes well for our defense that has only excelled at being inconsistent this season.
So even if Tannehill plays lights out he won’t determine the outcome of this game. It will take a defensive renaissance AND a well-oiled offense to get the ‘W’.
Beyond Tannehill, this is asking for a whole lot of improvement…
The additional problem on offense is that since Tannehill’s injury both Jakeem Grant and Albert Wilson have landed on Injured Reserve. Our once deep Wide Receiving group is now missing homerun hitters Grant and Wilson for the season. Also, “Mr. Glass” DeVante Parker is questionable with a shoulder injury and so is Danny Amendola with a hamstring injury. Tannehill will need to rely on Stills and some targets he has had little success with.
Think it’s a good time to finally get Drake and Gesicki involved in the passing game?
The best football betting software for bookies like AcePerHead.com on the market opened up with the Phins as a +10 underdog on the road against the Colts. However, after the news of Tannehill being named the starter, the line has dropped all the way down to +7.5. This means the money guys believe Tannehill will help the Phins… just not enough to get the win. I’m 100% hoping that the return of Tannehill gives this offense the spark needed for a surprise upset against the Colts… but I sure won’t bet on it.
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about whether or not Tannehill can make a difference?

Well, first ask, “Is Tannehill 100% healthy right now?” Second, ask, “Will Gase be fired if we go on a losing streak?” Third, ask, “Will Vance Joseph return as the defensive coordinator if he is fired by Denver?”
The Dolphins are beat up and laden with underachievers. I don’t see a wild card in their future. They will be luck to go 8 & 8.
I think Jimmy thinks they flop… I think your 8-8 sounds about right. But that’s the worst case scenario. It means the return of the same in 2019. I’ll only accept 4-2… maybe 8-8 due to some crazy scenario where they should win but get robbed. Even still, 8-8 or less will leave me with little faith in 2019. Vance returning wouldn’t be good… maybe when he was here he didn’t have the talent, but Burke is as good as he was. If they come out flat an lose, then I hope they collapse. If they have a scrappy game and lose, then I’ll push off that hope for a one more week. I having a feeling McMillan will let up a couple of big runs today and Colt win by 10 +… hope it’s me just being jaded.
Admin,
You have summed up my feelings very well. I have just about given up on Gase and Co. For the world, I cannot understand why McMillan continues to play so many snaps when everyone can see how he gives up big plays again and again.
I get the impression that they are risking winning just to give him experience. We’ll be lucky to make it to 8-8.
Go Dolphins!
He had two nice plays today, Fritz… but he had plenty of poor ones that outweighed the good. Gase is so close, but the guy has no luck. I hope they clean house and fire everyone… This was another painful loss.
Hello Admin
Teams should do their home work before the draft talked starts. If you listen to the experts, they will be convinced most that Just Herbert Oregon ducks and Drew Lock Missouri Quarterbacks are the only two. I keep saying they are both good Quarterback but overrated. How do you Justify these three Quarterbacks listed below? Murray has about 14 quarterbacks in front of him. They only carry their teams.

Gonna’ check them out, Steve. Thanks. Given Gase’s past, I don’t have great comfort that they’ll move on from Thill if he is back.
If the season ended today, these would be the AFC playoff seeds:
1. Chiefs (record: 9-2), (conference record: 7-1)
2. Patriots (8-3), (6-2)
3. Texans (7-3), (5-2)
4. Steelers (7-3-1), (4-3-1)
5. Chargers (8-3), (5-2)
6. Ravens (6-5), (6-3)
In the hunt…
Colts (6-5), (5-4)
Titans (5-5), (3-5)
Dolphins (5-6), (4-4)
Bengals (5-6), (3-4)
Broncos (5-6), (3-5)
Browns (4-6-1), (3-4-1)
Bills (4-7), (3-5)
Jaguars (3-8), (2-6)
Jets (3-8), (2-6)
Raiders (2-9), (1-6)

The season is over, Steve… time to tear the whole thing down.
