Second Preseason Game Coming Up
In a blink of an eye, the regular season will be upon us. But before we get there, the Dolphins have 3 more preseason games to work out some kinks and get the players some valuable game reps. The Miami will be taking on the Panthers this Saturday night at 7pm in Carolina for their second preseason game of the summer. The Fins have spent the week in joint practices with the Panthers, so these two teams are very familiar with each other.
First of all, I would like to say that I think this experiment of having the team have a full week of joint practices with another team was a terrific idea, and should be something they do every preseason. It gives players a chance to tune up against other players, and because there is another team involved, it mentally raises the competitive spirit of all players involved. When your playing against another team, it is also a good way to get a barometer of how the team is progressing as a whole, and individually. I know Delmas was lost for the season during one of these practices. But his loss had nothing to do with contact, and this could have easily happened in a Dolphins team only practice. so I will not say this was a drawback from practicing with another team.
When the Dolphins hit the field Saturday, the starters will be given a little more time compared to the first game. I am very eager to see if the starting offense and defense can leave off where they finished the Bears game, and just maybe, they can continue to build on that performance and take it to a higher level. Most football gambling fans would say that Tannehill, who has had his way against the Panthers starting defense this week of practice, will most likely be able to carry that over to the actual game. I tell you that Tannehill is really coming into his own this off-season. He finally seems to appear comfortable and in control of his offense – which are extremely great things to see in one’s young franchise QB.
Now that Delmas has officially been ruled out for the 2015 season, Miami fans are going to be keeping a close eye on Walt Aikens and Michael Thomas to see which player can step up and seize this opportunity to become a starter. In addition there will also be a close eye kept on the Offensive Guards, Linebackers and Cornerbacks. These are our 3 weakest units on the team in terms of depth and it is important to see if we are making progress at these positions, or if the scouting department needs to start thinking about picking up other players around the league that are going to be waived when the 53 man roster needs to be set.
In terms of winning and losing this game, I think Miami will have a better chance to win this game than the previous game, because the starters will be playing longer. I think if Tannehill and the offense play a full 2 quarters then they should be able to at least have two scoring drives. If the starting defense plays the full two quarters I think they will be able to hold the Panthers to only one scoring drive. What does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans hope to see from this second Preseason game?

Well, after watching the Panther Fins game again, what stood out to me is that we still cant run the ball, we have no power running game or scheme, we line up in shotgun on the goal line and trying to run the ball, I believe this is going to cost a game or two.
The OL in particular LT (Fox) is soft as shiate, Fox gets pushed back, and gets beat around…the G position wasnt pushing anyone off the ball, although were adequate in pass protection.
Tanny almost gave up a pic on two separate occassions, on one slant Keuchly almost made a one handed pic but maybe the receiver should have cut underneath the ML vs behind him putting the MLB in perfect position between Tanny and himself. Wheres the coaching on that?
All in all….mediocre, same problems, OL, running the ball, long ball misses, dropped TD pass, etc.
Lots of work if theyre going to improve from a .500 record.
All in all phinfreak only points out the bad things. I guess I missed the part in the first quarter where our first team offense and defense completely dominated the Panthers
Yimmy, The items I point out WERE in the 1st Q…see where I wrote “Tanny almost gave up 2 pics…”
DOH!
shinfck almost is only good in horses. Like we have said many times, go complain on a different blog, or complain about another team
Although I am longing for Miami wins, I don’t know if it’s worth losing a good player for a meaningless win.
We haven’t always had luck on our side. Having said that it is also important to teach the team how to win.
This team has a lot of really good talent and should be capable of beating any team in the league on any given Sunday.
It remains to be seen. Hope for the best-prepare for the worst.
Well said tbone
