Show Goes on Despite Phins Presser Disaster!

Another year, another let down by the Miami Dolphins… and even uglier end of the year presser by GM Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel. After listening to that terrible press conference, it’s no wonder the Dolphins have the longest streak without a playoff win in the NFL. But we fans can change the owner, GM, or head coach, so we must find some fun anyway, despite the total mess of the franchise.

On paper this team has talent, however a decline in the quality of our offensive Line and Tua missing 6 games were probably the biggest reasons why this team went 8-9 and failed to make the playoffs. There is a long list after that, but they probably head the list. Grier admitted to as much in his excuse and finger pointing presser.

The concern is, will Grier overcompensate and reach, or will he make the smart move?

The needs are many, but top issues are clear

The best bookie services are betting Miami will look to improve their offensive line and backup QB this offseason and upcoming draft.  Most fans are hoping they are right. There is a good chance left tackle Terron Armstead may retire, which will only create another hole on their already porous offensive line.  This unit took a big step back this year, and must focus on improving this offseason, whether using a blue chip in the draft or paying a premium in Free Agency. This offensive line must get a whole lot better.

Miami is slated to have the 13th overall pick in the 2025 draft, which could be a great position to draft one of the top Offensive Linemen in the draft. With this being another good draft for potential QBs and a lot of QB needy teams, this could lead to one of the top linemen sliding to the Dolphins. In addition, Miami is projected to have a total of 10 picks in the upcoming draft, which includes two projected compensatory picks in the 3rd and 4th round.

With that many picks there should be at least two offensive linemen selected, and one QB. Let’s focus on the ‘should’ part because Grier is either hit or miss with his drafting.

Tua can play, but his health makes him a Big question mark

Tua has proven he is a very capable QB, but that’s only when he is healthy. But he has only played one season, which was last year, where he was able to stay healthy and not miss any games. That’s not a good track record. Between his now lengthy history of concussions, he added another hip injury on the one he severely injured in college. It’s clear Miami must find better ‘Plan B’ and whoever we choose needs to be prepared for him to miss time next season.

The reality is Miami should have been drafting a QB each and every year. This season it doesn’t have to be with their first-round pick, but they need to take a shot on a QB prospect each year going forward. And just maybe, the Phins will get lucky and land a good player. Whether that’s to fill in for Tua or take over, it doesn’t matter.

The reality is, you’ll never even have a chance to find a Tom Brady, or even a Brock Purdy if you don’t take a shot and draft a QB each year. And now, with Tua’s injury history, it’s not a luxury, it’s a need.

We don’t have the right GM or head coach… and it seems we don’t have the right owner, but maybe to football gods will let up roll few winners in this draft! I won’t hold my breath that they do, but I sure will hope.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans thoughts about if this team can get back on track and be a true playoff contender next year?

Theodore, that’s a good thought but that will never happen. Jimmy you are absolutely right about drafting a QB every year and also the offensive line has been in need of help for years. We never should have picked up Armstead because he was never healthy when he played for the Saints.Grier has been a bust and I have no idea what Ross sees in him,Last I read Grier was supposed to take a higher position with the team.We need a new GM,like yesterday.I’ve been a Miami Dolphin since they have been a franchise and I’m still hanging on to the glory days.I’m tired of waiting but what else can I do? I’m a dolphin for life. GO FINS!!!

Stupid as it sounds the first thing I would do (which will never happen) is revisit tua’s contract. You play half seasons you get paid for half seasons. That would free up enough cash to pick a GOOD backup. Then go out and get someone you can count on when tua gets taken out.
