There isn’t much to smile about but Achane & Sieler were some of the few bright spots
It took me a while to get up the heart to write about the Miami Dolphins loss to the Seattle Seahawks so soon after the gut-wrenching loss. This is game recap time, but I couldn’t find the desire to break down everything that went wrong Sunday and everything that’s wrong with the future of this franchise. I’ll get there soon, though! But thinking about the play of Devon Achane and Zach Sieler sparked the inspiration to talk about Dolphins football while I was still licking these wounds.
For all that’s wrong with this team (and there’s a ton) Achane and Sieler are what’s right with this team (and there’s not much). You have to cling to the good however little, after all I am a Miami Dolphins fan and beggars can’t be choosers.
Sieler & Achane can’t save the season alone, but…
I remember the 2007 1-15 season well and how bad we were. There was nearly nothing to be excited about game to game. I don’t think we’ll end up with that putrid of a season, but it also most likely won’t be what this season was hyped up to be. At least, Achane and Sieler bring real star power to either side of the ball and give everything on every play. I can get behind that. I hate that we’ll be a bad team, but I watch every game, every season, good, bad, and ugly, so at least I can focus on them and tune out most of the other garbage.
Achane is a gem. Small but tough as nails and electric. He has a little Mercury Morris in him and that’s all I could think of this Sunday. Rest in peace, Mr. Morris. Thank you for all the great joy you brought this franchise. Achane didn’t have a great day 11 for 30 yards with 2.7 YPC, but he gave everything. Of that 2.7 YPC 1.82 yards were made by his tough running. He did tack on another 28 yards in the receiving game. You can bet with the best pay per head that if he had any help he would have done something special. Sadly, he didn’t get much help at all. The great news is he stayed healthy and lives to fight another day.
Hopefully, Achane gets more help in the games to come. This kid could be special if he didn’t have to run behind a ‘special’ offensive line.
Sieler Took Control & Dominated the Seahawks!
Zach Sieler isn’t in a contract year and is underpaid considering his production, but he plays all out on every snap. Sieler was spectacular and almost put the Dolphins in position to win with his interception… if they weren’t so inept. Beyond that amazing play, his pressure in the endzone on Geno Smith was key in forcing another interception. He put us in position for two scores! Sieler had 5 pressures on the day with a sack, 4 hurries, 2 tackles, and 3 stops. He was a wrecking machine up and down the line, but Laken Tomlinson seemed to get most of his wrath. It’s a shame that we wasted this amazing effort… but that’s what we do it seems!
I know there is far more bad than good with this season and team. I know Sieler and Achane are tiny pearls in a sea of filth. I know all too well. But, this whole football fan thing is supposed to be about fun, so I’ll stick my head in the sand for today, and enjoy these two little pearls before I wad into the pig trough tomorrow. Go Phins!!!
