Phins are struggling, but Achane is shining bright
The Miami Dolphins didn’t just beat the New Orleans Saints — they watched a star once again put the team on his back. De’Von Achane, the lightning-strike running back with track-speed legs and highlight-reel instincts, is putting together one of the most complete, dominant seasons by any Phins running back since Ricky Williams.
At this point, it’s not a fluke. It’s not a flash. It’s a pattern.
Achane is becoming the guy–maybe the best in the biz!
So, while the Dolphins linger in mediocrity or worse, Achane is a true star and something fans can hang their hat on and smile about.
Achane carried vs the Saints
Against the Saints, Achane was everywhere — slicing through gaps, exploding outside, catching passes in stride, erasing angles that should have belonged to NFL defenders. It wasn’t just production; it was control. The offense flowed through him. The Saints had no answers, no adjustments, and no safety deep enough to handle his acceleration.
His day was the perfect microcosm of his season: efficient, explosive, and unstoppable when he gets the ball in space.
Achane totaled 134 yards on 22 carries, 1 TD, and 6.1 Yards Per Carry.
The under the hood numbers are more impressive, Achane had 3.45 Yards After Contact, generated x6 1st downs, and 3 runs of 10+ yards (2 of them going for 15 + yards).
You can bet with the best pay per head that his young running back effectively carried the offense.
But he’s been doing it all season long.
A Season That Stands with the Best in the League
Even in a Dolphins offense that has sputtered at times, Achane’s numbers paint the picture of a player performing at an elite, league-leading level:
- Tops in the league in total yards: 3rd (900 yards)
- Tops of the NFL in yards per carry: 2nd (5.5 YPC)
- Tops in Rush Yards Over Expectancy: 4th (.96 per Attempt)
- Receiving Yards Among Backs: 4th (370 yards)
- Receiving TDs Among Backs: Tied 2nd (4 TDS)
- Receptions TDs Among Backs: Tied 2nd (54)
- Top tier in yards after contact per attempt — rare for a speed back: 2nd (2.9 YAC)
- Broken Tackles on the Season: 8th (16)
This isn’t niche efficiency, either — Achane’s blend of rushing and receiving production has him sitting in a statistical neighborhood usually reserved for the league’s most complete backs.
Achane is the brightest light of 2025 by far!
While Miami’s offense has struggled for consistency, Achane has been the constant spark — the player who can flip a drive, change a game, or tilt the field with a single touch.
The Dolphins may be flawed, may be fighting uphill, and may have questions to answer this offseason. But they also have something every franchise dreams of:
A young, ascending, electric superstar who can be the engine of an offense.
De’Von Achane isn’t just Miami’s future.
He’s the Dolphins present — and their brightest hope.
Let’s hope we build around Achane better than how we have all our other stars over the last 4 decades!
Go Phins!!!
