Tannenbaum helmed the collapse of the New York Jets and was cast adrift for his failings. He was washed up on the shores of Miami to bring cohesion to Philbin’s idle regime. So far he is 0 – 2. He was quoted as saying, “I supported Joe Philbin, wish things had worked out.” As the reigning Gm (with Hickey his seeming subordinate) it was his decision to keep Philbin. Imagine if Philbin had been canned in the off-season what opportunities would have been present? This is why this Sunday could be bittersweet. If Campbell, through a herculean effort, manages to turn this season around, the victory will only serve to solidify Tannenbaum’s position. This is the depth of Miami’s problem. Even if we finally find our coach and resolve all our player issues this season, we will still have a man at the helm who isn’t in touch with his team or the foresight to fix it.
