The Dolphins are 2-3 and are traveling up to Chicago to take on the Bears who are 3-3. This is not an absolute must win game, however if the Dolphins have any thoughts of making the playoffs, then they are going to have to start winning football games. Both teams have issues playing consistently well, so it will be interesting to see which team can play consistently better than the other.
Philbin needs to find a way to get his team ready to play from the first snap of the game, especially on offense. The Dolphins need to attack the Bears defense, and they need to stop coming out flat in the first half of the game. The Dolphins have been playing a lot better in the 2nd half of games, which at least shows that the coaches are making the right adjustments at halftime. However, for some reason their initial game plan for an opposing team is not working out well, because they are constantly looking lost in the first half.
The offense needs to come together for an entire game, and have a balanced running and throwing attack. I would love to see the Dolphins take their first drive of the game down the field for a touchdown, or at least a field goal. Since Lamar Miller is now the unquestionable starting running back, it would be nice to get him at least 20 carries and see what he can do with a more heavy work load. If Miller can continue to play well, then this will open up the passing game for Tannehill. In addition I would like the Dolphins to finally take a shot down the field with Wallace. We all know that Tannehill is not good at throwing the deep ball to Wallace, but I do not understand why they have totally stopped trying it. Even if they don’t connect on it, it at least keeps the defense honest, and there is a chance of getting a big pass interference penalty called, so why not at least take a shot once a game?
On defense the secondary needs to be able to cover these big bodied receivers, and the linebackers need to be able to cover Bennett and Forte. A good way to prevent Cutler and his pass catchers from having a big day, is to put Cutler on the ground, early and often. The Dolphins have shown that they have a very good pass rush, and if they can continue to get pressure against the Bears, then it is going to be a long day for Cutler. Cutler has the tendency to be erratic with his passes when he is pressured, and this often leads to him throwing interceptions.
The best sportsbook software in the world have the Dolphins as a +3 point underdog against the Bears. I believe that the Dolphins defensive line is going to win this game for Miami, by constantly putting pressure on Cutler, and this will lead to a couple of turnovers for the Dolphins defense. I also believe that the Dolphins are finally going to come out strong, and end up winning this game by at least 10 points, because they will win the turnover battle and the offense will put up over 30 points.
