Top10 Stories from Phins Mandatory Camp!
Phins mandatory camp is the last stop before Training Camp
There are plenty of nuggets to talk about after the Miami Dolphins mandatory min camp, as there always are. This camp seemed to have few juicy ones and a few that if they play out true, will be big for the Phins chances in 2025. In all this we have to remember that this is the season with ever green hope and, as we found out in one of the top stories, also a season of lies.
I’ll goes over the Top 10 (mostly in hierarchical order) that struck me the most.
Is this a new Phins, same ole’, or a mixed bag?
Here’s my list:
#10 Jonnu Smith is holding out and was told he can contact teams for trade offers and Jalen Ramsey holding out and waiting for his eventual move. If they are traded will Miami win or lose the deal and what if they are forces to stay a Phins, what then?
#9 Injures still lingering with ED Jalen Phillips, OL James Daniels, and OL Austin Jackson. It’s expected, but it does leave some concerns over when they will be 100%. They are three critical pieces, so sooner is certainly better.
#8 Sieler is having a sit in for a new contract. Given how he’s performed and how small a contract he took a couple of years ago, he’s a guy that deserves it, but how stubborn will the Dolphins be? How long and how serious is he going into camp?
#7 Brandon Chubb looks 100% and ready to go. He will be a BIG piece of the puzzle especially with Jaelen Phillips working his way back. If Chubb can even get back to his old self mostly, it will be a huge boost for this defense because of the uncertainty with the defensive back group.
#6 Kenneth Grant has been nothing but a positive and showing plenty of what we all hope he was billed to be. Nailing this pick is as big as it gets and while it’s still early, there hasn’t been one bad thing reported about him. What’s not to like about that!
Here’s my Top 4 of the bunch and likely the most critical:
#5 Patrick Paul and Jonah Savaiinaea working well together in the run game, but on the flip side, the surprise of him practicing on the left side. Parring two young guys together could be brilliant or leave from for mistakes that Miami can’t afford.
#4 Zach Wilson is who we thought he was… so far. Still time to grow, but Miami invested into him with a sizable contract, so at the very least this can’t be a disaster.
#3 Tua coming to an epiphany over his injury problem and the desperate need for him to take care of himself and control his desire to ‘prove’ his toughness. Let’s hope he remembers this come game time.
#2 Phins are now a ‘team‘…unlike last year. If true, this would be the biggest storyline and Miami might finally be on the right track. This would be awesome if not for the next storyline.
#1 Brandon Chubb said, ‘We lied about being a team last season’. This year they are telling the truth as we are told. Really this kicks out the legs of everything until proven otherwise. Truth be told, they also lied to us about being the most comfortable with offensive line last year. So, guess they are fine will blatant lying. Every team lies, let’s be clear, but this seems like something other than the norm.
What is what now will likely change dramatically
The process is still in its infancy stage, so we have to take everything with a grain of salt. Miami’s 2025 Season and all of these storylines, and many, many more, can and likely will go in any direction when the bullets start flying Week 1. The season is coming fast, and you can bet with the best pay per head that we’ll have plenty of time to celebrate or hyperventilate then! Go Phins!!!
