Tough Enough For Campbell?
Coach Campbell (YEAH, like the sound of that SO much more than Philbin) wants the Fins to be tough. Talk is easier than action- ALOT easier. I believe Campbell is a tough man and that he wants a tough team. BUT, he isn’t playing. The question is are all his players tough enough?
It will be interesting to see who ends up as starters on the game-day roster. Now let me say this, every one of these men is tough – to make it to the NFL you have to have a certain character but are they in that upper level of toughness – that is the question?
Looking over the roster one player stands out as not having the tools to play “tough” football…at least not at this point in his career. Jamil Douglas is a very talented “finesse” player and smarter men than me have rated him as LG ONLY type. They have gone on to say he has trouble with strong opponents and is tentative at the point of attack. Not even the best pay per head reviews would bet on this style of RG for a rushing attack! Look, scheme, and game-plan can alter any mold. But if the QB is right-handed, then your left side of the O-line needs to be your best pass blockers – because the team will disproportionately attack a QB’s blindside. So either you are the Patriots and are a heavy pass team with pass-heavy protection, or the right side is your run strength side.
Coach Campbell wants the Dolphins tough. That means they need to run the ball. His Oklahoma drill was an exclamation mark on that philosophy. Miami will shift away from passing and strive for balance. Adding up all the scouting reports on Jamil and watching him play, it’s obvious at this stage of his career, he CAN’T handle NFL strength. Who will replace him? That will be interesting, but replace him they must! Combining Jamil with the lack of a Fullback and limited blockers at Tight End, this team will need a coaching and personal miracle to play” tough”.

Coach Campbell has a mountain of obstacles to overcome in order to turn this team around. But the first must be the lack of a rushing attack. A rushing attack will help the offense and defense through clock control and will finally tilt the game of attrition to Miami’s side. I believe until proven otherwise…GO FINS!!!

This isn’t a collection of Campbell players. I like Campbell but nobody can make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
This team needs an overhaul all over again.
We shall see Freak (Ireland). You’ve been right in the past. We shall see. The previous couldn’t, this staff may be able to create an edible chicken salad!!!
agree, but if they play with heart I am down. Thermopylae, Rocky, Alamo ect. all lost but they had heart and at least for this season I will be happy with that…anything more will be a much celebrated X-mas gift!
Kinda ironic how Coach Campbell called out Brandon Albert as the first participant of the Oklahoma drill!
You think that he wanted to see if he could count on big Albert or if his injuries would continue to hold Albert back? Test passed, seems as though we will have Albert back injury free and ready for opening day October 18th.
Lets get Grimes back, get Parker on the field and attack/attack/attack on both sides of the ball. Have a feeling this staff may have more trust in their rooks/second year players and give them opportunities.
Letz Go Fins!!!
It was either a test or to show how it’s done. Albert when healthy is great…we need him. As you said he passed the test and we are better for it! GO FINS!!!!
Agree M.J., big difference for the entire offense.
