Wake up call to the AFC East

The free-agency period is about to officially kick off next week, but teams are already beginning to release players to clear up necessary cap space, so they can target players who they believe will be an upgrade for their team. Two teams just decided to make a rare blockbuster trade, something that is not often common in football. The Philadelphia Eagles just traded their star pro bowl running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for their star pro bowl middle linebacker Kiko Alonso.

This is one of the trades that can possibly be a win-win for both teams involved. Chip Kelly has a vision for his team, and so far after 2 years in the league, he has produced a winning team in Philadelphia, so even though he traded away one of his best players on offense he saved the team over $10 million on McCoy, and surely has a plan in place for his replacement. In the process, he was able to get a very young talented linebacker who has only been in the league for 2 years, but in his first season, he was an absolute beast and many sports gambling fans consider him one of the best linebackers in the game, who has the ability to anchor a defense for the remainder of this decade.

On the other side of the trade, the Bills are getting one of the most dynamic running backs in the league in McCoy. They have Freddie Jackson and C.J. Spiller on the roster, however, this all but means the end for the often injured Spiller. If they decide to keep Jackson most sports gambling fans would say they will have the best running back duo in the league, with the elusive home-run hitting McCoy and the smash mouth downhill Jackson. Even though the Bills will be losing one of their young studs on defense, they have so much talent on defense that Alonso will not even be missed. Last year he missed the whole year with an ACL injury, however, the Bills still had one of the better defenses in the league.

This is clearly not good news for the Dolphins, because the Bills are in their division and they will have to play them twice next season. Also, the Dolphins already had issues matching up against the Bills, and now that Rex Ryan is their head coach, every pay per head review sites and their mother knows that this trade solidifies Ryan’s goal to be a ground and pound team. What makes it even worse for the Phins is that at the moment the Phin’s run defense is probably one of the weakest elements of their game. This may in fact make the Dolphins organization make an even harder push to sign Suh since he would be able to upgrade the run defense immediately.

Also, the division still goes through the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, but now that the Bills have just improved themselves, the Dolphins have an even longer journey ahead of them because if you can’t win against your own division, then it makes it that much harder to have a realistic shot at the playoffs. What does the rest of Miami Dolphins news fans think about the Bills blockbuster trade, and how that will affect the Dolphins plans in free agency and the draft?
