Week 9 Against Jets: Rebound Or Call It A Season

Week 9: miracle run or the end of any real hope for the 2018 Season

In Week 9 Todd Bowles has a shot to right his team, and sink the Phins season and regime

In Week 9 Todd Bowles can right his team and sink the Phins season… and maybe the regime.

The Miami Dolphins are hosting the rival New York Jets in a key battle. Each team’s season hangs in the balance based on the outcome.

Both Dolphins and Jets have the injury bug—bad… so there are no excuses for Miami not to win.

Yes, there are seven games left after this one. But in reality, it’s win or onto 2019.

While the win / loss record says both teams are still in the playoff hunt. Truth is different than appearance. Neither team appears equipped to compete with the elite teams this year.

For Miami, the scrap heap QB Brock Osweiler is again the starting QB. Tannehill is once again sidelined with his mysterious shoulder injury.  Gase recently said Tannehill’s injury was a ‘rest thing’ and not a ‘surgery thing’.

This makes my stomach turn and gives me déjà vu of the ‘knee thing’.

Here we are again?

According to the reports, Tannehill’s shoulder has only inched forward in recovery. Considering this slow recovery is coming from a guy once known to be an iron man. This situation isn’t a good one. Say what you want about Tannehill, he’s tough and can deal with pain.

Could this mean Tannehill will not get better unless he has surgery or a long layoff?

Maybe, maybe not… time will tell. Let’s hope his throwing shoulder isn’t damaged goods going into 2019. A QB making $26 million with a bum throwing shoulder is a very expensive lemon.

What’s certain is by the time Tannehill returns the Playoffs might be out of the picture?
Not for nothing but do our trainers suck or what?

On a side note: Remember when our doctors told Nick Saban that Drew Brees had a 20% chance of being able to continue his career? As he was in the building ready to sign with Miami, we said thanks but no thanks. Thank goodness we signed Dante Culpepper!

We’ve been good like that in the medical department for some time.

How many players will go down with serious injury when all is said and done?

And there’s still 8 games left!

DeVante Parker, Ryan Tannehill, and Adam Gase are three peas in a pod. All three have had their careers clouded by injuries. All three must break out of their circumstance this season and prove they are worth believing in.

On the plus side of happy spin, the sportbook software providers like AcePerHead.com have the Dolphins as a -3 point favorite against the Jets. The action is split with just slightly more on the hometown Dolphins. This game will come down to who can play the least sloppy football. Winning the turnover battle and limiting penalties will probably be the deciding factor. Bet you never heard that one before. As a Phin fan, this gets me nervous. This whole regime has been one big lack of discipline.

The key matchup will be can we stop the Jets running attack.

Running Back Bilal Powell is Injured Reserve and Isaiah Crowell to carry the load.  Crowell is an effective runner who is averaging 5.1 YPC. But, he only averaged 2.9 YPC in the first matchup. He doesn’t do well on the cutback and isn’t a blazer, so Miami should be able to keep him in check.

Unfortunately for Miami, Vincent Taylor is now on Injury Reserve now.  Will Ziggy Hood prove to be a good pick up? If Miami can stop the running attack, Miami will have a good shot at winning this game.  Also, it’s very rare that we see the Dolphins as a favorite in a game, which makes me think they are the favorite for a reason.

Now, beyond the Jets game is a whole other story…

A win here tells us less than a loss does about the team, but I’ll take a ‘W’ with a smile.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about the Dolphins beating the Jets?

Dolphins Nine games and we averaged 20.7 points a game. In Don Shula,s days this may have been okay. Today’s game it will not fly vs the Patriots averaged 30 points in 9 games.

No, this offense sucks. We miss key opportunities…this is about the QB. Either you need an elite QB or an above avg. QB with a great and a good run game. We don’t have either of these.

Good job Dolphins defensive coordinator Matt Burke

Rookie linebacker Jerome Baker intercepted Sam Darnold and scored the only touchdown on a 25-yard return with 11 minutes left, and a resilient defense helped the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets 13-6 on Sunday.
Darnold threw four interceptions and took four sacks, and the Jets went 2 for 13 on third down.
BOX SCORE: DOLPHINS 13, JETS 6

Miami Dolphins Offensively = One dimensional Quarterbacks which have killed the Dolphins the last two decades.

    a. Once the pocket collapsed the Fins QB takes a sack or due something not wise.

This is why we need a 3 Quarterback Packaged in 2019 season

    a. One who can make the best decision and win.

    b. One who has the gifted arm ability

    c. One who can totally destroy a defense(Mobile Quarterback)

The key is learning how to play all three in one game.

    Alternative is:

Continue with no prime time games and poor TV ratings.

    No Division Title etc.
