What is Left for Miami to Do?

Poe is still one of the Free Agents left.

Poe is still one of the Free Agents left.

Miami still has holes left to fill

The Miami Dolphins accomplished a lot last week, by resigning some of their own, and making trades and signings for players at positions of need. However there is still plenty of work to do.

Miami will meet DT Dontari Poe on Wednesday, which would be a great signing, because he would fill a position of need at DT to pair with Suh and Phillips, and he is a force on the interior. However, Poe has already met with the Colts, Jags, and Falcon without signing a contract, and there is still the Raiders that want to have a meet and greet with him, so free bookie software have Poe’s price being a bit inflated due to a potential bidding war among his suitors. Maybe in years past, Miami would be interested in being the highest bidder, but not this year, so our chances of landing Poe are quite small.

The one thing floating around that looks good for Miami is that Poe might be looking to sign a one year contract to re-inflate his value… playing next to Suh would help this effort tremendously. So, there is a chance he is wearing aqua in 2017.

If Miami does not go with Poe then, I expect them to look elsewhere for another DT that they can add to their rotation. Two other options at this position that Miami may pursue are Johnathan Hankins from the Giants or Bennie Logan from the Eagles.

Miami also definitely needs a Guard, because they still have one Guard position not even filled, and even though they just signed Ted Larsen, they need more help in the O-line interior. A few Guards left on the market that may pique the Dolphins interest are Jahri Evans from the Saints, Andrew Gardner from the 49ers, and Chris Scott from the Panthers. Evans is the best of the bunch. However, he has been in the league for 11 years and nearly breaking down. Gardner was originally drafted by the Dolphins in 2009, but has bounced around the league with 6 teams over 8 years. At the very least, schematically he fits well with the type of blocking scheme that we run. Guard will also be a position that we should use one of our first 3 draft picks on.

Poe could fill one of the holes Miami has left to fill

We also still need a linebacker to pair with Alonso and Timmons. There has been some increased chatter that the Dolphins would like to bring back Koa Misi. However, this would depend on him actually recovering fully from his previous neck injury, and also taking a pay cut. A healthy Koa Misi would be a nice fit with Alonso and Timmons. The problem is, he’s constantly getting injured and is probably not a player that we can count on for a full 16 game season.

Lastly, Miami would like to add another cornerback. This group did surprisingly well last season, and showed a lot of promise with youngsters Howard, Lippett and McCain. However Miami wants another capable body, and is rumored to be showing interest in the Bills ex-cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman.  If they do not go with him, there are still plenty of other CB’s available such as Sam Shields, Morris Claiborne, and Patrick Robinson.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans thoughts about what Miami’s next plan of action is going to be?
