Whiplash: Phins Hit Wall… Collapse Coming?

Inconstancy ha been a constant feature of Gase led Phins
Inconstancy has been a constant feature of Gase led Phins

This type of inconsistency is typical with the Phins…

The first rule of Dolphins fandom… don’t get relaxed with the Phins. Getting too comfortable will hurt you. I hold to know this by now… but I forget too easily.

I almost always try to be as even-keeled as I can… on this one I’m riding with emotions.

From the opening drive, the feeling of a ‘long day coming’ was in the air. The dread grew more palpable with each minute that passed. Albert Wilson going down was true ‘shock and awe’ from the football gods.

So here we are, heading into Week 8 with whiplash: After a great win last week, Miami has hit a wall going 95 MPH…

…and now they are tumbling towards the embankment of collapse… wounded, beaten, and humiliated.

Add insult to injury, the game wrapped up with DeVante Parker’s agent calling Adam Gase incompetent. That was cold BTW. Talk about kicking a guy in the %^$ when he’s down.

Miami likes to win or lose big time… there’s no moderation with our Phins

Anyway, back to ‘disaster Sunday’: Critics point to the offense not being good enough and some come to Miami’s defense and say injuries are mounting. They are both obviously valid, but they don’t compare on the pecking order (at least this week) to the collapse of the run defense.

Every week it’s something new, something ridiculous that makes the game close… or causes Miami to lose.

I don’t believe in curses but did Adam Gase swallow a dozen black cats?

Three Weeks ago, on the verge of beating the Bengals, Laremy Tunsil goes down with only Sam Young to replace him. Young is active and not Sterup because Young was filling in the role of inline blocker due to A.J. Derby and Gray being injured. The pressure on Young was far too much. Cincinnati caused 2 turnovers for 2 T.D.s in the 4th Qtr to win the game. It’s really hard to even make that up.

This week they have a trade partner for ‘Mr. Glass’ DeVante Parker, so they leave him inactive. Who wants to give ‘Mr. Flimsy’ the opportunity to collect a guaranteed big salary in 2019 due to the 5th Year Option? Of course, the only logical thing that can happen is Miami’s two top Wides get injured and ‘Silly Puddy’s’ agent then gets to lambaste the Head Coach. Could it turn out any other way?

Now, Gase will likely swallow crow, lose the pick, get little production from him, and release the ‘Dinged One’ in the offseason with nothing to show for it. Or more likely, knowing how the football gods hate Miami, Parker will get an incurable case of hemorrhoid from riding the bench, activate the option, and play video games on Miami’s dime in 2019.

Miami is 1-3 over their last 4 games… If they lose this week, 1-4 is a collapse

However, that situation pans out, Miami is a worn out team heading on the road to a tough Texans team. A loss will make them 4-4 with the Jets and Packers up next.

Will Ted Larsen play this week? Kenny Stills won’t. Albert Wilson is also likely done for the year. Danny Amendola is battling a shoulder injury as well. Who’s next up on the injury list?

Even the best pay per head reviews would say that a great coach would be hard-pressed to survive these many injuries. You have to admit that. But would it be different if Gase didn’t have all these injuries?

For years we’ve had to wait till next year to get a good evaluation of Ryan Tannehill due to an extenuating circumstance. It appears the same will be said about Gase. Maybe both are great and hindered by cruel fate? Or maybe not. Uncertainty appears to be the only certainty these days. I am certain of one other thing: Cruel fate has hung heavy on the Dolphins franchise for far too long. When will it end? Go Phins!!!

Overall the defense has not played too bad this season. We are among the top defenses in the league with take-aways. Having said this, there are too many questionable schemes from Burke. I have never been sold on him at all! Gase should have gone out and brought in a proven veteran DC. Once again, we get another “wanna be” coach. Beginning to really question Gase too. He was the pick of the liter 3 years ago, but now I am not so sure. 3 years ago I kept saying that the team really needed to take a hard look at a “PROVEN” HC like Mike Smith from Atlanta. Gase is young and has growing pains, but if this team can’t be near 500 then Tannenbaum, Ross, Grier, etc., need to really take a hard look!

“Having said this, there are too many questionable schemes from Burke.” My biggest complaint is the forcing of McMillan… he is slow, isn’t active, and doesn’t shed or make big plays. Have this at MLB is a BIG problem. They do move him around to hid him, but none of these LB can shed. Gase ha bad luck, slow to adapt, and a bit hard headed… he has strengths, but circumstance and some bad decisions haunt his success.

    Hello Admin

Nothing surprises me with the current status of the Dolphins.

Hey earlier I thought that Oregon Ducks Justin Herbert and Missouri Drew Lock would be nice picked ups for the Dolphins. After watching their performances this season. I’m thinking they could be Fool’s Gold. But Justin Herbert will most likely they in college another year before coming out.

One Quarterback who has gotten better each game and bounces in and out of the 1st round talked has been Iowa
Hawkeye’s Senior Nate Stanley. Nate has performs under pressure these season’s and has constantly step up to win regular and big games.

Quarterback Nate Stanley has thrown for more than 300 yards in three of Iowa’s last four games and the Hawkeyes have yet to have a running back collect 100 yards in a game this season, but the ground game will remain on equal footing with the passing attack when Iowa kicks off Saturday’s 11 a.m. match-up with Maryland at Kinnick Stadium.

    Hello Admin

For as the Players of the Miami Dolphins: I’m in your corner!

I’m in support of Coach Gase: But the Coach has to prepare 53 players each week to become starters and understand their talents. The season is not lost? If the dolphins brought in Jay Cutler last season to play a few games then they can definitely stop complaining about money and bring in players to help keep this season a live. i.e. linebacker/Defensive linemen?

The problem with the Miami Dolphins Owner and Management is they are really living in a fantasy world. They want a certain type player to play QB, They want a certain type man to be the coach. The bottom line they are afraid of success.

The Patriots eat every Guru coach the Dolphins have brought in the last two decades.

Who’s the best defensive mind in the game? I don’t know!

Who’s the best Offensive Mind in the game? I don’t know!
Who’s the best overall advancing to become Head coach in the game? 1. Tom Herman, Houston. No. 1

    Buy them for 5 season

    Some Facts:

Facts: Each season the Dolphins continue to play themselves out of the prime time games.
Facts: Being Angry with a player does not warrant trading him for peanuts.
Facts: Hardheaded/Stubborn/Refusing to draft a QB in the 1st to 3rd round.

Pats are head and shoulders better than any coach in the division. Gase is still so slow to adapt and inconsistent. I think he has some strong points… he might need more marination. It’s not a good spot for Miami a change in the regime will mean 2-3 years again before this team is ready and some good players will be lost with a new system. Sad. It will be very hard to get a good coach as well… this is a franchise that’s not very pleasing to top coaching talent.

        MJ,

I think what you said is very true. Therefore, even with a loosing season, Gase may be given another year. Some of this is just due to the team still being in repair from the Philbin, Ireland, Hickey, eras. Heck, we gave Philbin 4 or 5 years, so why not Gase. I think a HC change this early could set this team back which does have good talent. Not so sure about Burke-DC. Everybody has a learning curve on the job, and Gase is no different. He is not even in the HC position for 3 years!

The trouble is it could be or it couldn’t… we are still at a point of uncertainty after 2 1/2 seasons. Feels like Tannehill situation… Gase making it right is best… but if another year passes and he is a flop it will make it worse. The team and its fan a caught in a very sticky situation… what else is new… Man, that sounded very jaded…

There are scenario’s to defeat the Patriots:

        1. Give Gase two prior Head coaches that are not Guru’s but Win I repeat not Guru’s but Win! and understand where the top players are and can help recruit and coach the best Talent.

        2. Stop Gase from tying himself down and be head coach.

        3. Admin and Fans let’s be real about this. Coach Gase is not going to beat Bill Belichick at this Game with a QB learning how to be a QB and Coaches that do not have his back meaning if your offense/defense is not ready each week you don’t have Gase Back. What I’m hearing are two decades of excuses!

Coaching coaching coaching Get rid of Burke first, then defensive line coach, then Tannenbaum

    • admin

They should have adjusted far better… But, LBs are not making enough tackles close enough or behind the LOS. LB’s needed to pick up the slack. They should have known they’d repro Belichick’s plan to attack the LBs. Honestly, I agree, David. This regime made a hard move towards it being their last.

Any of these two Coaches would help illuminate the Patriots
        Defensive Minded:
Rex Ryan Jets former Head Coach
Mike Smith Atlanta former Head Coach
        Ed Orgeron, LSU
        Nick Saban, Alabama
        Kirby Smart, Alabama
        Mark Stoops, Kentucky

        Offensive Minded:
        Kirk Ferentz, Iowa
        Mike Leach, Washington State
        Dabo Swinney, Clemson
        Willie Taggart, Oregon

Stephen Ross is the Owner: What he needs to do is Go outside the Box. Contact Nick Saban/Urban Myers, Top college sport analysis and picked their brains for the best college offensive and defensive coaches that they must prepare for the most in there world? He cannot surround himself with “Yes” men in this process.

Contributing each season to no prime time games, Constant like of vision, Failed to draft the proper QB’s Do not consult Gris Grier or Mike Tannenbaum on !@!!@! (They have Failed this organization with excuses that would not fly in New England– they have more band aids than the hospital). And Tell Gase this is how we going to win. Here are your two coaches and make it Happen. I Truly believed the Team is hear were is the coaching to prepare for each game?
