Why not look at TE Jermaine Gresham

Even though the free-agency period has completely cooled down, there are still players available that the Dolphins could and should definitely look into signing. One of those players is Jermaine Gresham the former tight end from the Cincinnati Bengals. Even though I am happy with our current tight ends of Cameron, Sims and the untapped Lynch, there are some questions marks with this group, such as can Cameron stay healthy for an entire season, will Sims be able to continue to increase his development into being an every-down tight end, and can Lynch stay healthy and actually be able to make it through training camp?

So even though most sports betting software fans would say that there is a lot of potential upside with this group, there are still some questions and it may be wise to sign another veteran tight end to add some depth and competition to the group. One player that has yet to be signed is the 5 year veteran from the Bengals, Jermaine Gresham. He has been a productive tight end over his entire career, and he has been durable as well, only missing 6 games in 5 years. Last season he caught 62 passes for 460 yards and 5 touchdowns, which when you compare these numbers to Clay’s 58 receptions, 605 yards, and 3 touchdowns, they are pretty darn good. Gresham also never had a season where he caught less than 4 touchdowns. He has very good hands, which is evident from his catch to target ratio, which shows he caught 78% of the passes thrown in his direction last season. However, the one knock on Gresham is that he has had issues fumbling the ball his entire career. He has 11 total fumbles and 6 lost fumbles during his 5 seasons, with 3 fumbles coming last year.

Gresham is a big target at 6’5”, 260 pounds and he has consistently proven throughout his career that he is a matchup problem for defenses in the red zone. Gresham is right on par with being as productive as Clay at the tight end position, and some pay per head sportsbook experts like AcePerHead.com would even argue that Gresham has consistently been more productive than Clay throughout his career. The Dolphins had originally wanted to keep both Cameron and Clay, so they would have one of the best tight end duo’s in all of football. Even though they were unable to re-sign Clay, they can still have one of the best tight end duos in the league if they sign Gresham. Not only that, but Gresham will come at a much cheaper price than Clay. What do the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans think about signing Gresham?
