Will a Lost College Season Crimp Phins Plans In 2021?

Phins Big 2021 Draft might be based on college tape from 2019

The historic Miami Dolphins 2020 Draft had plenty of extra obstacles due to the changes made to the offseason because of COVID-19. But the extra hurdles of limited interviews and selecting rookies in a virtual draft pale in comparison to the added adversity the Phins will face next year if the 2020 college football is cancelled. So, despite Miami mortgaging their future to acquire four picks in the top two rounds of the 2021 Draft, Chris Grier may have to make his selections based on 2019 tape!

The NFL draft is an inexact science and the chances of a team finding a good rookie class aren’t high in good conditions. Front offices don’t need much help blowing a draft class, so cutting the tape of prospective players by a third, or by half in some cases, is a heavy blow. If this indeed ends up the case, the Phins job in a critical 2021 Draft will certainly be more difficult. — HOW DO BOOKIES MAKE MONEY? A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ODDS.

Yup, it is what it is.

No one team will cry over the Phins draft mojo getting a serious crimp.

Chris Grier and Co. will have to make the best of the situation and that’s that!

Still, you can bet with the pay per head services that Chris Grier and Brian Flores didn’t have this added complication in mind when they moved keys assets to acquire these picks.

Winners make hay in hard times

Despite the extra obstacles leading up to the draft, most gave a positive grade on the Dolphins 2020 selections. Aside from the outliers, the draft grades on the entire class ranged from B+ through A. If these rookies do actually prove to be a good group, the front office will put a big notch i their belt.

Of course, it’s so early, so who know what the reality is. We’ll get a better picture on the ‘real grade’ by what we see in the 2020 Season, so only time will tell.

But, if the Phins talent evaluation and player development is as good as the consensus says, then the 2021 Draft will be a bright one, especially if NFL team must rely on the 2019 college season. Extra adversity always creates a large gap between average and good. At the end of the day, having limited tape might give Miami an edge over many of their competitors…

… if this regime is a notch above in talent acquisition and development.

Brian Flores and his Phins have had a ton of adversity heaped on it from the beginning. Adam Gase quickly crumbled under less. Even this Training Camp has had a reduced roster and zero Preseason games making the evaluation of the roster more difficult. The 2020 college season getting cancelled would be par for the course. But, the good news is, so far Flores has endured and overcome that adversity. Go Phins!!! — How Do Bookmakers Make Money From Sports Betting?
