The agent of DeVante Parker called Gase incompetent…
The Miami Dolphins are a soap opera or maybe a cheap novella: non-stop drama.
DeVante Parker is at the center of the latest drama. Parker has been a part of more than a few storylines over the years. Most of these ‘dramas’ revolved around injury and dedication.
Since Parker was drafted in 1st round of the 2015 NFL draft, he has flashed potential. FLASHED. On the flip side, he’s battled injuries right out of the box… and grasping big concepts like drinking water before practice. When Parker is 100% healthy he brings a unique element to the offense. Unfortunately, 100% healthy in the NFL after Week 1 is only for kickers… if that.
Parker is a top-shelf talent with cellar production
After being a ‘healthy’ scratch for the Lions game, Miami lost both Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills. Parker’s agent then went on a rant about the incompetence of Adam Gase.
The whole thing is pathetic.. and so very Dolphins.
Now Miami must keep Parker, play him Thursday, and swallow crow from Parker’s agent.
To Parker’s credit, he’s been a good soldier and even with the trade rumors said he wanted to play in Miami. He’s not a bad kid… not in the least. Parker is just a kid in a man’s game. He has publicly apologized for the ranting and ravings of his agent. But let’s be real, I doubt his agent would have said what he said without Parker’s knowledge or consent.
Now, instead of being traded for a 3rd round pick, Parker is going to get another chance to prove his worth … and his agent right.
Wilson is out for the rest of the season and Stills will be sidelined for weeks. Either Leonte Carroo or Isaiah Ford will be called up to the active roster. Both are flying with the team.
A victory from either of the two ‘undesirables’ could be a boost for the Phins
Parker, and maybe Carroo, have a shot to prove their detractors wrong against the Texans.
The biggest issue is Miami picked up Parker’s 5th-Year Option for the 2019 season. One bad injury to ‘Mr. Glass’ and the Phins are on the hook for $9.5 million. Any of the best pay per head reviews would bet Miami’s luck will leave them be stuck paying the bill.
Buuuttttt… Parker, and maybe Carroo, have a ‘man-up’ chance against the Texans.
We’d all love to see Parker or Carroo (or anyone in aqua) have a monster game. However, does anyone believe either has the goods to deliver? Is anyone not on meds expecting a game-changing type of performance from either?
Well, for those in the loony bin, there’s one interesting subplot. If either shines it could be Carroo. While Parker and Brock don’t have much chemistry, I bet Carroo or Ford have worked on the scout team with Brock. This relationship could give one of the promoted practice squad players a leg up… and an opportunity to have at least some production.
I’m going to pop a double dose of my meds and believe a Cinderella story is coming. On second thought, I’ll make it a triple dose for good measure.
