Will Dion Jordan Prove Himself In Three Weeks

Dion Jordan is at the crossroads of his Miami Dolphins career.

Dion Jordan is at the crossroads of his Miami Dolphins career.

Dion Jordan could be a bust, a boom, or blahdity blah, blah, blah.

Three weeks is what Dion Jordan has to prove his worth to the Miami Dolphins. The clock on those 21 day started Wednesday and his return comes at a ‘perfect’ time with the 2 game suspension of Defensive End Jason Jones.

But, what will his return amount to?

Will it be a redemption song or the sound of a flushing toilet for the former 3rd overall pick. A big fat question mark is the consistent response from beat reporters to coaches. One thing that is for sure is, all eyes are watching.

According to Joe Shad, ‘Dion Jordan will practice, but the team just wants to see where he is at. Hopefully he can help us this year, but if not, then maybe next year. Jordan is a natural outside pass rusher.’

Defensive Coordinator, Vance Joseph confirmed Shad’s report when he said ‘the team views Dion Jordan as a DE with maybe a mix of OLB, but he he really wants to see DE Dion Jordan practice to see where he is physically’.

Essentially, the starting point is health.

Not that long ago Jordan was a stellar talent — but, is it too late?

I love the idea of him getting out there at SLB in spots. Man, if he could rise to the occasion — whooaa Nelly! It was where he made his name in college as a 3-4 OLB.

Since the Dolphins are only on the hook for under 700k this year and the next, and given Jones’ absence, they have zero to lose.

Jones has had a descending season with Miami according to the best pay per head site, and this is his bottom. I’d love, as all fans would, to see Jordan pan out, and panning out doesn’t mean he needs to be a superstar. If he can contribute with an equal or greater value of Jones, which isn’t that high, then it would be a win.

And if he isn’t, then it’s a push.

But, given this season has been a roller-coaster ride, maybe he can be more — then of course, he could be handed his walking papers in a few weeks as well.

The encouraging thing is that Adam Gase and Vance Joseph have done an very good job in fixing reclamation projects, and this could be a late season Urika that offers them a much needed dimension.

I’m betting on this kid to pull it off — in some shape or form. Unless it’s health related, I expect him to stick.

Kiko Alosno is a good friend. The staff has proven to know how to handle players from a personal and professional standpoint, and last this kid has talent — just a few years ago it was elite. He has a great environment this time — especially with Ireland and Philbin gone.

Potential has never been his issue with Jordan. The way he was utilized and his immaturity have been the stumbling blocks. With half the equation right now due to good coaching, I expect him to pull his end and make his pick something other than a complete bust. Yeah, it might be dreaming. But hey, dreams sometimes do come true! Go Fins!!!
