Will or Will Not Grier ‘Grier’ the 2025 Draft?

Speedy, finesse, soft: these the primary traits the Miami Dolphins are known for… and it must change if they ever want real success in the NFL. So, will Chris Grier ‘Grier up’ the 2025 Draft or will he grow as a GM and finally build the Phins right? Despite Grier sort of, kind of admitting he needed to boost the offensive line, your guess is as good as mine as to what Grier will do.

Whatever opinion Grier has, Miami is desperate for toughness like a 98lbs weakly who is getting sand kicked in his face every time he goes to the beach. And while you might disagree, I think the defensive interior is nearly as good a place to start as on the offensive line. Whatever side of the blade you want to cut with, we must add big and tough to the roster so we can finally control the A and B gap on both sides of the ball.

Whatever Grier does with the 13th Overall pick will make it clear his head is at and if he plans to double down on dumb or turn over a new and smarter leaf. The smart bet with the best pay per head is Grier will still lean to the former with some moves with the later.

Offensive Line is critical, but so is defensive interior

Defensive tackle Mason Graham is a stud and would be a great fill for Wilkins and Campbells absence. Zach Sieler is going to be 30 years old this season and he needs help. Also, Sieler is much better at playing 3-5 tech, which is from the outside shoulder of the guard to the outside shoulder of the tackle. Miami needs to help Sieler and also prepare to replace him in a few years.

Graham though will likely not be there at #13 unless we get a Tunsil or Minkah like drop. Unfortunately, the only other DT that looks to fall in the 1st Round is monstrous Kenneth Grant, but #13 might be too high for a nose tackle. This is why I’d love a trade back for more ammo and then draft Grant.

The problem is you can’t bank on trades and Grier historically doesn’t like to trade back in the 1st Round and isn’t a big fan of nose tackles. We passed on numerous ones from Vea, to Lawrence, to Nagat, and Wilfork. So, it looks like the most reasonable move is for Grier to grab an offensive lineman in Round 1.

The 13th pick will offer a ton of offensive line talent

The Dolphins should be able to draft some excellent offensive line talent and be a stone’s throw of some these players: tackle Will Campbell, T/G Armand Membou, G Tyler Booker, or T/G Kelvin Banks Jr. Given all the mid-round picks we have and this a deep offensive line draft, if Miami drafts a good blocker with #13, then take 2-3 shots mid round, they should see the 2025 blocking improve. Whoever we draft with our first should be a starter and then the flyers later can be either depth or hopefully a starter shakes out of them at some point.

I think it will take two drafts to get this offensive line healthy. We need 2-3 starters and 2-3 quality depth players, unless we intend to bring back Terron, which I hope not. I want to see Austin Jackson replaced by the 2026 Season, that is if Patrick Paul continues to grow, and we find some talent this draft.

Whatever the case, Miami must get tougher and not more athletic and faster. Can Grier change his spots will be the biggest storyline of the 2025 Season. Go Phins!!!
