Will Phins Players Return Sooner than Expected?

NFL and NFLPA discussing a move that would help the Phins

Covid-19 turned the NFL offseason upside down with the lack of face-to-face rookie interviews, a video conference draft, and now mini-camps appear to be canceled. While the league is scheduled to start Training Camp on time, things can change quickly because of this virus. As it stands now, without mini-camps the difficulty of building communication and chemistry is compounded for the Phins with all the new faces and the lack of mini-camp. But, the league is considering making a move to offset the extra difficulty for NFL coaching.

Some reports are saying that the NFL and NFLPA are discussing a plan that would allow rookies and veterans who changed teams to report on a limited basis before June 26th. While there are no specific dates set yet, it’s encouraging that talks are underway. If this indeed ends up the case, it would be a big win for the Dolphins very young team.

The Phins need every practice they can get to put the team on track

Between Free agency and the Draft, the Dolphins have added just over 20 new players to their roster. This means nearly a quarter of the roster would be allowed back in the facilities sooner rather than later. That’s a huge plus for Miami… if this early start comes true.

Coach Flores stated, ‘he really needs to get his hands on these guys to see what he has’. With all these new faces, it won’t be an easy process to get everyone on the same page with philosophy and learning the playbook and scheme. So, even a couple of extra days will be a ton of help.

Then there’s Tua. The Phins’ future hasn’t even stepped foot in the building or had the Phins doctors give his hip the once over. He’s already behind the eight-ball with sportsbook software providers like www.AcePerHead.com to beat out the seasoned vet Fitzpatrick to start Week 1. Getting in early will go a long way towards Tua having a successful 2020 Season.

Close but no cigar… yet

All NFL teams will struggle with limited team activities, and it could lead to the first few games of the season being played sloppy. Miami though might struggle more than most. So even though nothing is official yet, at least this is a good sign for the Dolphins and the league as a whole.

What do Miami Dolphins News fans think about how the shortened offseason will affect the Phins?

How do we know there will be a full season? COVID-19 restrictions and travel restrictions may put a kink in the NFL’s plans. Infections may spike now that we’ve had riots and protests. This will prolong the COVID-19 agony. The Dolphins may have to self quarantine when they play the Patriots, Jets and the Bills away.

We don’t. But, I’ll copy and paste my reply from above: “I’m no expert and am just going from what I read… but all the numbers show that this virus has very little impact on healthy people. Cases are one thing, deaths another. How many deaths? Pre-existing conditions seems to be where most of the deaths occur. In my former home NY, 94% of deaths coming from preexisting conditions and mostly the elderly. This would mean shelter and protect the old and sick, but the healthy would be pretty safe— much like a normal flu season. From what I read, Sweden never closed and they appear to be reaching herd immunity. Truth is I don’t know, Randy. I’m just hoping this whole ugly situation winds down soon. The economic fallout is coming next as a second wave and that’s won’t be pretty either, brother.”

I think I picked it up a few weeks back. Hit like a mule and was gone in 2 days. My brother in law had it and it was similar. Both of us are reasonably healthy and middle-aged. I think the fear and unknown added to the response. But, it seems the situation is getting clearer and it will head in a better direction going forward. Again, who knows, Van. We’ll see.
