Will Reshad Jones ‘Unfollow’ Draw Same Ire As Rosen?

Critics can prove THEIR manhood by giving the same criticism to Reshad Jones as they did to Rosen

Smith had a lot to say about the ‘unfollow’ by Rosen

The first ‘story’ fresh out of Minicamp is that Reshad Jones has decided to ‘unfollow’ the Miami Dolphins on Instagram.

First off, I barely know what Instagram is, and I don’t know why Jones removed the Phins on his Instagram account. What I am sure of is that Jones is far more hip about social media than I am… so he had to expect a ‘fallout’. Either Jones didn’t care or wanted to make a stink. Neither is what you want from a player, much less a leader.

You can bet 100% with the pay per head bookie services that Jones is gone this year or next.

Another thing I’m ‘crystal’ on is that Josh Rosen’s ‘unfollow’ of the Cards just prior to his trade to Miami was met with intense derision. That unfollow was ‘reported’ as ‘proof positive’ that Rosen was less than a man and a selfish ‘prima donna’ attempting to duck competition.

However tasty it is to focus Jones’ social media slight of ‘his team’, it’s actually the back story… for now.

Plenty of critics climbed up on their high horses and yodled from the rafters about Rosen’s egregious ‘unfollow’. You’d expect Reshad Jones to get equal treatment, given he quit on the Dolphins in the middle of a game in 2018 and only showed up to practice when it was mandatory? Rosen never did that.

So far though, it’s been the sound of silence. Hmmmmmmm, now isn’t that curious. A fair question is why?

‘Hypocrisy’ or to not ‘hypocrisy’: That’s the question?

The real story is about the character of the many critics who lambasted Rosen’s ‘unfollow’. Are they intellectually honest or not?

Here’s the genesis of the lambasting that Rosen received

And what Reshad Jones should get from these same critics—if they aren’t prejudicial hypocrites with an ax to grind.

“Bueller. Bueller?”

Smith on Rosen’s unfollow on IG: “When things don’t go your way, you’re going to cry in the corner.”

Steve Smith: “Man quit playing with your fingers and going on Twitter and get your ass in the weight room and get ready to play some football.”

Here are some key points from Smith’s ‘expert’ analysis that should now apply to Jones. No?!:

In a later interview, Smith doubled down and added that Rosen was acting ‘passive aggressive’.

Now Smith’s reaction was one thing, but this assessment was wholeheartedly backed by Dolphins beat writer Omar Kelly:

If this is the truth, then the ‘truth’ should apply to Jones. No? I expect to hear some ‘truth preaching’ on this matter tout suite. If not, then the question is why?

Remember ‘you been warned’.

“A reputation for good judgment, for fair dealing, for truth, and for rectitude, is itself a fortune,” Henry Ward Beecher

I’m not a Rosen fan in the least. While I was happy that they traded for him, I didn’t want Miami to draft him in 2018. His struggles with health and his public persona rubbed me the wrong way. But in my research of Rosen after Miami dealt for him, I saw I had allowed media prejudice to taint my opinion… and I had to ‘fess’ up.

Also, I like Steve Smith (the player) and Omar Kelly the reporter more… at this point. You can add Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharp, as well as many of the other critics, to the list. But what I despise is unfair treatment. Even Jesus hated the hypocrites.

I thought the intense outcry over the ‘Rosen unfollow fiasco’ was way, way overblown. But some had a different take. No problem (sans Smith). Everyone is entitled to a different opinion… as long as you dispense that judgment evenly.

Hey, I wrote that Jones was “All-Pro At Finding The “I” In Team” for not showing up to camp after he quit on the team in 2018. Plenty disagreed. Such is life. You let time shake opinions out until the truth is revealed. Some times you nail it and sometimes you have to own up to your jackassery. I’ve made a dope of myself on occasion. Getting it both wrong and right is human… and understandable.

What is unacceptable is cognisant bias.

While I’m just a two-bit, hack blogger, even I understand journalistic integrity. So, you’d hope a ‘real journalist’ would put Reshad Jones under the same fire that Rosen got and point out the hypocrisy in others who didn’t… or the hypocrisy in themselves.

You’d hope. Go Phins!!!
