Phins v.s. Bengals has the #2 spot in the 2020 Draft on the line

With one of the most exciting Phins offseasons coming, the light at the end of the tunnel is just about here for Phins fans. But before we get to the fun, Miami must first play the final two games of this seemingly never-ending season.

This is Miami’s last home game of the 2019 season and they face the hapless Cincinnati Bengals. Despite playing against the NFL’s worst team, the various sports betting software providers have Miami as only a slight home favorite at -1. This is telling because generally in sports betting the NFL home team has a 3 point edge. The oddsmakers are saying by this line that the Bengals are the better team.

If the Giants beat the Redskins and Miami loses, Miami will vault to the #2 spot. However, the Giants are currently a +2.5 point underdog against the Redskins in Washington. Double the action is coming in on the ‘dog’ and that’s not good for the Giants’ chances to win.

The Dolphins’ best scenario for their draft position is to lose the last two games AND get a little help from other teams around the league. Winning any of these two last games push us out of the Chase Young Bowl and as far back as the 5th ‘pick’ overall.

The million-dollar question is if Miami gets the 2^nd pick would the Bengals be open to trading back and what would the cost to Miami be? I know every analyst and their mother has the Bengals drafting Burrow, but they are the Bengals after all! What if they love Chase Young or another QB? Let’s cross our fingers that the ‘Bengals brain trust’ uses Burrow as a smokescreen to get someone to trade up?

It will be interesting to see how this all finally plays out. At least, after this game we will be far clearer on the final draft order!
