Ryan Fitzpatrick is the ‘magic’ behind the 2020 Phins

Ryan Fitzpatrick missed yesterday’s practice due to ‘personal reasons’ and Tua and Rosen took over the reins at QB and were inconsistent. Many fans worried ‘how long’ will it be before he returns’? Today, Fitzpatrick was back and the first player on the field. And after an excellent practice today, Fitzpatrick left no doubt that he’s THE starting signal caller in 2020.

Oddly, Tua and Rosen played much better as well. But fans shouldn’t worry about the young guns because there was a whole lot more to be learned about who Ryan Fitzpatrick IS rather than who Tua or Rosen will be. True leadership is a rising tide that raises all ships… and that’s exactly what Fitzmagic does.

Phins fans, the reality is the 2020 Miami Dolphins’ mojo is ‘Fitzmagic’. And by all reports, the good news is Fitzpatrick will take his show on the road with a much better cast than the ‘Three Stooges’ ensemble this year.

If the offensive talent does indeed step up, maybe the 2020 Season can really be magical.

Not every elite player blooms early

It’s time for Phins fans to embrace the situation: Tua IS the future, but right now, it’s ALL about Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. Any fan that wants the Miami Dolphins to win this season needs to hook and chain their hope to the ‘Fitzmagic bandwagon’.

Many believed that Fitz was here to hand the reins over to Tua… this season. Barring injury, that’s not happening. No, siree! Brian Flores wants to win, the players want to win. Right or wrong, the mentality isn’t the ‘Little Engine that could’ from last season. Brian Flores plans to put the peddle to the metal and run all-out to the finish line… or until the motor is blown.

I’m not saying the Dolphins will shock the world… But, Brian Flores intends to and that means riding Fitzmagic all the way.

You can bet with the pay per head review sites that Flores really believes in Fitzpatrick. The players certainly do! And until both change their minds, Rosen and Tua will hold the clipboard and learn.

Maybe with a real cast and some luck, Fitzpatrick can shock the world? Why not?! Consistency has been his kryptonite. Maybe it all clicks for Fitzpatrick and the 2020 Phins find themselves in the playoffs?

The offense around Fitzmagic seems to have some magic of their own

Jakeem Grant is reported to be open, open, and open… now he has to catch with consistency. If Grant can even be mildly consistent, he’ll put opposing secondaries on their heels.
Isaiah Ford has been called the player of the day a couple of times. Big, smart, and excellent routes. Fitz will pick up plenty of first downs with Ford.
Preston Williams has come back from his injury on fire. The word ‘special’ is attached to his practice reports. Considering what we saw last season, this isn’t hyperbole.
DeVante Parker has come into his own. All the talk of wasted talent for four-season is gone. A redemption story where talent meets it’s potential is as sweet as it gets in NFL football. Parker deserves every bit of credit.
Every Training Camp over the last decade has been about the offensive line getting hammered by the defense. Not so much talk of that this year. This doesn’t mean they’ll be great, but when you don’t hear their names mentioned too often that’s a great sign.
Jordan Howard is looking like a true vet with the experience and talent to bring consistency to the run game. Howard could be the low-key steal of the Phins Free Agency. His quality pass blocking will be a big bonus for Fitzpatrick.

Myles Gaskin flashed last year…. Could he shock in 2020?

Many accounts from the beat reports are that Myles Gaskin is flashing. And if his pass blocking has really improved substantially, gaskin will be a very pleasant surprise for Phins fans in 2020.

I did a break down of the backend of the Phins RB group and the tape showed Gaskin’s success hinges on his pass blocking. I marked it as the key improvement Gaskin needed to make because he can run the ball. The reports Gaskin is much improved in pass blocking is very good news for success of the Miami Dolphins.

Given how Kalen Ballage has done little to prove he is the future, Gaskin is now making a legit move on both Ballage and Breida for the 2nd or 3rd spot on the running back depth chart. Don’t be surprised if this ends up the case.

Tua is fine and Rosen is too

Rosen has been off at times and Tua has had some hitches in his game and floaters deep. Don’t sweat it. The 2021 Season is the Year of Rosen V.S. Tua. Everything is being set up for the two to go at it next Training Camp. At the very least, Tua will be fine.

If this offensive line can even be passable, all the skill talent at receiver will shine. And that will be very bad news for the Phins’ opponents. So, sit back and enjoy the 2020 Fitzmagic show.
