Phins 2-Year Window to Make Hay!

Phins are loaded with talent over the next 2 seasons

The Phins have pushed a load of future capital into play for present success and now have a team that should challenge the best in the 2022 and 2023 Seasons. With plenty of quality players closing in on their 2nd contract and other key players getting older, the Dolphins have two seasons to strike while the iron is hot before this team begins to break apart heading into the 2025 Season.

I do think that Phins fans need to have some patience this season–as long as they make the postseason this year. But, the 2023 Season is without a doubt the ‘do or die’ year for the Dolphins to achieve enough real success to make this big move worth it!

Why a two-year window for the Dolphins?

Now, some are saying Super Bowl or bust for all these move. I’d love nothing more than the Dolphins to notch a championship over the next two season, but my floor of success to make all this worth it is a darn good showing in a Conference Championship game.

Remember Phins fans, we haven’t been a Conference game since 1993! That’s almost 30 years ago! So, for me, given how we built this team on the fly, just getting to the conference title game will give me good vibes for the future of this organization with Grier and McDaniel in charge.

Why do I say the Phins have a 2-year window?

Well, first off Chris Grier invested two 1st Round draft picks on Jaylen Waddle, a 2nd and 3rd on Liam Eichenburg, practically an entire draft with a 1st, 2nd, two 4ths, a 6th and $25 million a year in salary on Tyreek Hill. Add in Byron Jones will be 32, Xavien Howard 31, Terron Armstead 33, Hill 30, Ogbah 31 by 2025. And Wilkens, Gesicki, Van Ginkel, Tua, Brandon Jones, Needham, Hunt, and Seiler (among several others) will need a 2nd contract to be retained before the 2025 Season begins. That’s a lot of flux coming between this team and the one entering 2025. So, you can bet with the best pay per head sites that unless miracles happen, Miami must blow the doors off the league this year and next.

Miami can retool and reload when this team breaks down, but…

Yes, the Dolphins have two 1st Round draft picks in 2023.

But, it will take a couple of years to rebuild the roster because of good players moving on or degraded due to age, and all the young players won’t be in the pipeline due to the extra picks used. Still, if the Dolphins can make a good show with this squad over the next two seasons, it will bring tremendous confidence that this organization is headed in the right direction.

What if the Dolphins don’t have high level success over these next two seasons?

Then, in this case, we should see another regime change… and a new leadership group with a undertalented roster.

But, I believe there’s plenty of hope at this stage to be very positive! While this squad isn’t perfect, Miami has all the tools to make good. So, let’s get our popcorn ready and expect a good show! Go Phins!!!

No moral victories are acceptable… Flores with Gailey and this roster would have been dynamite… McDaniel will have all the ammo to prove he is the genius he is reported to be…. didn’t like the trade of PArker to NE….

Let’s hope that the team progresses, makes the playoffs and uses those 2023 picks to improve the team. This is a 9 & 7 team that must make th eplayoffs to prove that the new coach is a bona fide genius! Anything less will be a big disappointment.

Must go undefeated in AFC East & Win Division, plus Win at least 12 games in ’22.

undefeated in the AFC is very hard… and a little high for my expectations. I think next season winning the division is 100% a clear must…. BUT, this is a new staff and a ton of new personnel. I think given how tough the AFC is… this is a slight mulligan year in the sense they must make the POs and be second in the div….but this will only force 2023 to have sky high results. I think the Dolphins are a talent and fickle roster right now… Howard and Armstead must stay healthy to go to high levels… BOTH. To me they have two seasons… if they don’t make the POS or win 10 or 11 and are 3rd in the div… it’s a massive disaster. I think they should go 5 of 6 in the AFCE and if they did that AND were second in the div, made the POS, AND were in that 11-12 wins range I’d be very positive for 2023…. can’t get blown out in the PO game and win and trip to the 2nd RD would be big mojo…. I do agree with you that this season must generate tangible and good results given everything.
