Tackle Armstead Meets with Phins Today!

Many insiders are betting Armstead & Phins come to terms!

The Miami Dolphins have been very busy so far this free agency period! However, they haven’t addressed the Tackle position or sign a top tier free agent. Both may change very shortly with the Dolphins set to host Tackle Terron Armstead today. And many insiders are betting it will get done!

Armstead is 30 years old and has spent his entire career playing for the Saints starting in 93 of the 97 games he has played earning 3 Pro Bowls.  He did miss 9 games last season with elbow and knee injuries in 2021 and had offseason surgery on his knee on Jan 18. All of the sports betting software providers have Armstead ranked as the best Tackle free agent available. Some even had Armstead as the best overall free agent available this offseason!

Landing a top-flight offensive tackle would be HUGE!

Miami must do whatever it takes to lock up this deal with Armstead and not leave Miami without one.  There is a lot of positive chatter going on that both sides want this deal to happen. Many sources believe it will get done. If Miami can land Armstead this will definitely be the centerpiece of our free agent signing and at a huge need on the roster. Armstead immediately makes our offensive line and whole team better.

While this doesn’t mean we are ready to win the Super Bowl next year, Armstead is a major upgrade on a major weakness for this squad team. At the very least, he would get us closer to being a playoff team. The fan base would be ecstatic over the signing! Now, whether he stays healthy and works out will be another question. At least, it could be said that Grier finally decided to do whatever it took to fix the long standing O-Line problems!

With La’el Collins agreeing to a contract deal with the Bengals, if we can’t land Armstead then there slim pickings at a quick fix at tackle. Miami could still pursue Duane Brown, but this would be considered a downgrade in comparison to signing Armstead and he’s very long in the tooth.

The good news is this could happen fast!

It’s a game changer to add Armstead to this beleaguered O-line

If Miami does get the deal done with Armstead, then they will truly be able to select the best player available in the upcoming draft. Even though Miami is stuck selecting at the end of the first round, there are always very good prospects that fall and Miami can still have the chance to select the best talent available rather than for need. Having the option of selecting the best player available is the best way to ensure Miami will have a shot at a stud with their top pick.
